I have two cats and I have tried several different brands and types of cat litter. Fresh Step Clumping litter was great except that I got worried about the clay getting stuck between the younger cat's toes. Now I discovered an all -natural clumping litter that really really controls odors. Its called "P-Pod" and its made from plant fibers - all natural. I remove solid wastes from the litter box almost immediately as a matter of habit no matter what brand litter I use. I find that if you allow cat poo to sit in the litter for too long, it stinks up the room AND the litter eventually. But P-Pod controls the odor really well even is poo has been left there for some hours. Unlike the regular clumping litter, P-Pod is flushable, so very convenient too.

You might want to try getting another litter box. I have 5 and have three litter boxes. You may try using more litter. I have an extra large box that I use a whole 20lb bag in and the regular sized boxes I use a whole 10lb plus a little extra from one I keep to the side. (About 12-13lbs all together) and that stays fresh for a good week with regular scooping.
Each time I change the box I place the empty boxes in the shower with REALLY hot water and some bleach or Lysol cleaner and let them steam for several minutes then wipe them down. I place an over-sized lawn/leaf bag in the bottom and then the litter. (The lawn/leaf bags work ten times better then the liners, especially with cats that have their claws still)
Always get boxes with lids too. Some cats, especially males, will "spray" instead of squat, causing them to miss the box if there is no lid. They will get the wall behind them or the floor instead.

My clients seem to have good luck with the litter (Pine Litter) that looks like little pellets. As it is used, it turns to a saw dust like material. Remove the sawdust type material, and freshen with more pellets. Whats really nice about it, is that because it is pellets, it helps prevent cat urinary problems because the litter won't stick to the cat's private areas when wet which could cloggage. You also don't need to use much either. Give it a try. A little more expensive but then again, some things are worth it. Is your litter box covered? The litter box type with the hut on it? They usually have a ventilation/filter system on the top. I remove the filter and line it instead with a laundry softener sheet. Helps keep the litter box fresh. Good luck

Forget traditional cat litter! None of them work!
Go to WAL-MART and get some small animal bedding, cedar shavings. Nothing works better on oder! And it is about $6 for a big bag that will last forever. I have 3 cats.

The problem may not be your cat litter alone.
Are you scooping the litter box daily?
The common rule of thumb is that you should have one litter box for every household cat.

arm and hammer super scoop, we use to get tidy cat and then last weekend I couldn't remember which one it was that we got (we usually go to sams club to get it and I was shopping at target and it was a really hot and miserable day and didn't feel like going to sams club just for litter) so I decided to try something new and arm and hammer super scoop works great! and we haven't smelled any signs of litter box oder.

Believe it or not, I swear by the Target brand scoopable deodorized litter. Doesn't smell and litter isn't dragged all over. I've heard people say they love the cedar litter, but it is pretty expensive.

I don't buy the fancy, expensive, cat litters..I have 28, housecats...I buy Food lion's brand litter, in the green 25, lbs. bag.... I put 5 bags(in a child's wading size pool)...I change the litter every two, or three weeks (depending on how dirty/clean it is.)..I scoop it several times a day..Cats will not use a dirty litter pan(some of them.) They will poop elsewhere in your home..Kitties can't change their litter, themselves, you decide when it will be scooped, or changed..Good Luck with your "kitties"

You might have to get 2 litter boxes. Some times they can be very territorial.
