Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. [Another biblical contradiction]

You shouldn't put too much faith in that fairy tale - it is full of holes big enough to drive a truck through.

Nope not a contradiction the one that can destroy the soul is satan. Note first part of the verse says do not be afraid of those who can kill the body but not kill the soul, this is a saved person, latter part of the verse refers to a unsaved soul which satan has control over both the body and soul and this unsaved body and soul goes to hell. Read Rev. 21:8 and Rev.20:11-15 note in Rev.20:11-15 that this is a judgement of the unsaved, and in Rev.21:8 list all that shall be cast in to the lake of fire and brimstone. It also is a pretty good description of the unsaved.

That is a mistranslation of the bible. The original texts say we are souls (not have them) and that souls die and no longer exist after we die. But that Jehovah and Jesus remember us and bring us back if we've accepted Them as God and Savior respectively.

The bible never contradicts itself. The problem lies with the fact that many had beliefs before translation of the bible to their native tongues. When the translation showed they were teaching the incorrect belief, they changed the Bible rather than their own teachings so they wouldn't look like they were misleading the congregations and lose their power. Or sometimes it is a misinterpretation (the correct translation from Hebrew to English but a misunderstanding of what the words are saying) of the bible and when they come across a different scripture that says something different, they can't figure out why and so they chalk it up to God works in mysterious ways. What they are supposed to do is go back to the original scripture and reread it to try and understand it properly.

For example, in John chapter 13 Jesus says "If you've seen me than you've seen the Father." This was interpreted to mean they are the same person. But later Jesus says He was sent by someone greater than himself, and Paul repeats that even later in Galatians that Jesus was sent by someone greater than himself. If Jesus is God, how can there be anyone greater? Because John Chapter 13 was misinterpreted, rather it means that Jesus looks and talks and teaches like God (Jehovah as said in Psalms 83:18) but that they are two separate people. That is how you can see Jesus and see the Father and yet Jesus has someone greater than himself.

It is these kinds of mistakes by humans that cause the contradictions, not the bible being written incorrectly.

You have control of your soul, what influences it or not. But if you let yourself under the influence of negative thoughts, you will destroy yourself. Like in an action of self anihilation. You will start hating yourself for what you did or for what you did not do and that destroys the energy of your soul to the point of near distruction. As long as you keep out these thoughts, you are safe. Just stay away from any bad thoughts. Your actions are superficial. You are beyond that. You are eternal and all knowing in your awareness. No matter what action your body does, no matter what thought your mind thinks, that is not you. You are something much more than body, senses, mind, intelect...You are awareness. And awareness is never moving, never doing anything, always in a state of bliss that you have to discover. As long as you keep it covered with dirt, you are "destroying" yourself, meaining you are not living the way you should be living. Free of every worry. :)

"Destroy" in that scripture is the Greek (remember that the New Testament is written in Greek) word apollumi. Means to "loss fully, destroy, mar, perish - both literally and figuratively". Since there are lots of scriptures that say the soul is eternal, this "destruction" must refer to "a total loss and marring" of the soul - but not an ending of its life. We even use the English word "destroy" in that manner in that we can say in a battle "the enemy was destroyed", but there were still survivors on the losing side. It just mean that they "fully lost" the battle. Or haven't read scriptures like Matthew 16:26, about "losing one's soul"?

There is no contradiction here. I don't think you have ever read the Bible. Who says that the human soul is eternal? Only God's soul is eternal. God is God, he has the power to do anything. So is it so inconcievable that he would have the power to destroy human souls? In Genesis we are told that God breathed His Spirit in us to give us life. So if you rebel against God then how can he keep His breath in something that rejects Him? Wouldn't Him removing His breath from you cause your soul to die? Everone must die once i.e. their bodies, but Revelations speaks of a "second death" i.e. the death of the soul. A human's soul is eternal with God's Spirit, but will die without it. Now quit your insecure petty hatred against Christians and all other faiths that believe in something. I have seen your other questions. You have 230 of them and from what I can tell, practically all of them have to do with Religion and Spirituality, and practically all of them are derogatory towards religions who have beliefs in something unseen. You Athiests complain all the time about people pushing their faiths on you, why is this different. You are just pushing your Athiesm on us who believe in things, and you are taking it a step further by insulting our beliefs and making it seem like we're in fairyland. Why can't you just go off and not believe on your own? Why do you have to hate on everyone who does believe in something? You've got WAY too much hate in you. And you've got WAY too much of a prideful heart.

A) The human soul is NOT eternal. It is immortal. BIG difference.

B) To kill the soul is not to make it cease to exist, but to make it impossible to live with God in Heaven.

C) Revelation makes it quite plain that after the end of days, when all is new again, those sent to perdition will also have glorified bodies.

The soul is eternal in that it does not die when the body dies. However, God is all powerful and CAN destroy souls if He wanted to, I suppose. Perhaps when Jesus said "destroy both soul and body in hell" he was speaking metaphorically, as in "soul crushing." One's soul isn't actually "crushed" but the spirit is broken.

Bible was written by many people over long time, and they have not necessarily read what was written before them.

Maybe it was meant as allegory for eternal & unescapable suffering, maybe Matthew wrote it down wrong, maybe the translatation is wrong.

Most people already realize that Bible was written by men who make mistakes and use over-stretched metaphors. Those few that think Bible is literal word of God will not be shaken by this contradiction - they'll say that God works in unknown ways, or you're a spawn of devil trying to confuse them.

In this verse, Jesus refers to the separation from God -- a person's death without forgiveness from sin -- that occurs to the unrepentant. It's not a contradiction; the price paid in hell is eternal separation from God, a separation which ultimately destroys the soul.

The soul can be devoured by sin, burned eternally in the Lake of Fire, or it can be saved, and nurtured and have eternal life in heaven.

By our own free will----our choices, our decisions, we can lose our soul. But if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, believe that he is the Son of God, and that he was crucified and rose again to win over death.....then your soul can be saved.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
