I have going to the movies for the first date. You dont even know each other. Why would you want to sit there 2 hours without being able to talk ? On the first date your supposed to get to know each other.

I try to avoid romantic stuff to circumvent any potential akwardness. Generic comedies (make sure you have the same tastes) are good choices, as are dramas. Action flicks are risky: most guys won't object to this (unless they're the type who dislikes action movies as a rule), but many women aren't as amenable to the genre. It may sound really really weak, but discuss several options with your date; see what they're into first.

Well if you ask me, I wouldn't want to go to the movie on the first date, I'd rather go somewhere where we can talk and get to know each other! Like Dave and Busters or bowling!!! Conversation is a big part of scoring points!!!

A movie you would both actually enjoy seeing would be the best kind.

Find out what your date likes. Then decide. If he/she likes action flicks hey go see an action movie; romantic go see romantic, etc...
