Religious people often use cyclical logic to defend their faith (e.g. "he exists, because, well look how intricate the universe is".) When there is no proof other than having a postulate, then the only result is that the discussion becomes argumentative. This conflict leads to people getting "bend out of shape".

For most people, their religious background is a very deep fundamental part of who they are. When that is threatened, they feel threatened as human beings. I guess that could also apply to atheists. Many people are 100% sure God exists, and many others are 100% sure He doesn't. That's why these two groups get so easily heated up in debate/conflict. By the way, I'm a Christian, and I respect those who have doubts because so many things apparently point somewhere else, but always keep an open mind. In the end, it's not really an intellectual issue, but purely spiritual, because God's Spirit changes people's hearts (and sometimes physically heal their bodies) in supernatural ways. And by the way, it's all about having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

If that is a serious question, here is a serious answer.
Because there are a lot of people that think it's cute to ridicule people of faith, so if you are a comparative stranger, everything depends on your approach.
Your other question, "i mean isn't that whats behind most conflicts, domestic and world?" comes from people that try to equate western religions which teach peace and love with religions that teach violence and hate (ex: "Kill the infidels").
A fair person can look around and see which preach hate and which don't, and realize they are not equivalent.
Also, compare western civilization with the rest of the world -- but you have to think for yourself -- there are lots of professors who hate our culture and our people and are more than willing to mislead you.

I think it is the spiritually immature who fly off the handle when their beliefs are questioned. Those fully aware of why and what they believe know the Truth will become known, and only God can reveal it. We can pass the Word on, but it is up to God to help another person truly understand it. Jesus didn't fly off the handle when He was questioned, he calmly stated what was true and accepted that some will believe, and some will not.

I don't know why people fuss--I do, however firmly believe in the origin of the Catholic Church being from Jesus (to answer your second question). All conflicts are started by humans and a lot of them are about money or land--not religion.

THERE ARE MANY RELGIONS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE WHOLE BIBLE AND THE WHOLE BIBLE MUST BE FOLLOWED YOU CAN NOT TAKE FROM IT OR ADD TO IT AND THIS CAUSES CONFLICTS AS PEOPLE DON'T REALLY TAKE THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE BIBLE IS SAYING A TRUE CHRISTIAN WILL POINT OOUT AND TRY TO HELP YOU DECIDE WHAT IS RIGHT THEY DO NOT PUSH IT DOWN YOUR THROAT IF THEY GET ANGRY WITH YOU THEN YOU NEED TO LEAVE THEM ALONE THAT IS WHY AMERICA IS SO GREAT WE ARE ALLOWED MANY FREEDOMS THAT MANY COUNTRIES DO NOT HAVE AND AMERICA WANTS ALL THE WORLD TO BE FREE TO WORSHIP AS THEY WISH WHETHER RIGHT OR WRONG IN ANOTHERS EYES

I like your style Jen! I asked a question yesterday about religious people being the ones saying the nastiest, meanest things I've read on here and they reported me. It was a nice question and a serious one, I was not passing judgement and don't based on religion either. I practice tolerance and they don't make it easy....

Your question is not accurate: they don't get bent out of shape about that but about the hostility and ignorance that is sometimes manifest by those who question these issues.
Your question about the existence of God is perfectly right and rational.
