This is a serious question to Christians, no bashing intended:
What do you think is the nicest, most polite way a person can (or has in your experience) basically told you that they weren't interested in Christianity, or accepting Jesus into their hearts, etc. I really want to know, if you were telling someone about God and they told you they weren't interested -- how would you want them to say it? (This is assuming they didn't say yes.)

Anyone who suggests I am going to hell will be reported, thank you. Just want to know what the gentlest way is to let them down.

I would want them to say they believe in some other religion, because I think most religions encourage morals, love and community. Then I would want to learn about their religion, because I would probably learn something important. By the way I am 100% Christian, but I borrow from and have been mistaken for a follower of buddism.

You answered you own question perfectly. Just say thank you but I'm just not interested. If they continue to persist, walk away. I am a christian and I have never pushed religion on anyone. I know what that feels like, my mother was like that to me all the time and for a good 10 years I wanted nothing to do with the church. This is something only you and God can decide not other people. It is sad all the people out there who think pushing religion on people will do them good when actually it does way more harm. Good Luck!

Actually, I do not label myself. I have gone to mostly Christian churches, but all to often find it very hard to hear of a man of God saying that people that don't do this or this or make a mistake will be punished. Some of the churches were not accepting of divorced people or gays. To me a large part of the religion was such a negative aspect. I also choose to not debate but say, things like " I have different beliefs or I have different opinions. I just choose to love everyone even if I don't really love what they do. I hope this helps you like it has helped me. You know it's interesting.. . Sometimes the people trying to save you, need to be saved themselves. Good luck, best wishes .

There is no way to put it nicely because the knock knock holy crap people will not listen to reason and they will not accept that I am not interested.
So I have found that if I invite them into the house for a seance they will run for their lives.
another good idea that I would like to try to keep them away in the first place is to put a chalk line of a body on your porch and throw around a few religious pamphlets.
A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism

Well, the nicest way that I've told Christians I wasn't interested in their evangelical efforts was that I respect their right to believe in what they want, and I'd appreciate it if they would give me that same respect in return.

I really dislike those Jehovah's Witness.
They annoy me.
And I have this problem too.
Wondering if I should say I'm not interested
and get bombarded with more questions, or
slam the door in their face and hope they leave?

As long as they were polite and let me say everything that I wanted to say and show them everything that I wanted to show them than they could just tll me that they didn't not believe in God or Jesus and maybe they would give it some thought.

Not a Christian, but the nicest I get is "I'm not interested". If they continue to push the issue, I will push back.

Why not just smile and say, "I appreciate your concern, but I've heard the gospel already from someone else, and I am not interested."
That way they know that they have satisfied their duty to spread the word, and you can be left in peace.

"I'm sorry, I'm not interested." would do. It still wouldn't make the person feel any better. By saying that, you passed up another chance to escape hell.
