Just think about it. If the truth is we are at the mercy of a mindless creator(evolution), that can make conscious beings without even breaking a sweat trying to think about it, and many people are born in the worst possible environments, suffer the worst attrocities, and in the course of eternity the chances that you can become concious again are the same chance you had before being made concious this time,then isnt it scientificaly true, we are all screeewed.

I should have mentioned earlier.... by 'GOD' i mean in a sense of some marvelous plan, or at least a point to existence, a sense of achievment for the universe, the finale of evolution, the place it may be going in the loooong run.

you still seem to be missing a few points, and I do not want to depress you, but the actual picture is even more stark than that. you are still holding onto the idea of an after life. when you die it is over, there are no encores, no returns, you go nowhere, you just end. If your materials were reassembled the result would still be another different person, with different memories in a different life. not you returning in some kind of reincarnation. You really only do go around once so you should do your best to make this world the best it can be for you, your loved ones and those who will follow you. Children are the only claim we have on eternity.

define screwed. evolution has produced an incredible array of living organisms that have adapted to survive their environment. The survival of a single 'conciousness' through time is irrelevent. It is an idea that people build at a certain point in their life that make their current awareness of their being tolerable. The success of the individual species is what is important. It isnt important for an individual to pass this level of awareness for the species to survive and re-adapt. Eliminate ideas that give man self importatnce such as 'man is more than any other anmial on this earth', 'the creator of all existence resembles us' (much like the thought the earth was the center of the universe).
