Each and everyone of us has done some things that we are not proud of. If someone says they have not, they are lying. Try focusing on the here and now, and loving your self for who you are now. This is so hard, and I have to force my self to do this every once in a while when I start to think about my past bad choices. Also, try to remember that what you were, helped to make you who you are today. sometimes we have to go through bad phases in our lives, to prepare us for something in the future. Use the mistakes to your and others advantage. Take what you have learned to help other people. You do have to forgive your self, to get rid of the shame. Focusing on who you are now helps to do that. I will keep you in my prayers.

You can start to erase it by making amends. Apologize to people you've offended or hurt in person, or by writing them a letter. If you've done other things that you are ashamed off - think of something you can do such as helping someone less fortunate or donating to charity to make up for it. And finally, promise yourself you will be a better person and let go of the shame after you've made up for whatever it is you've done. God Bless You!

It is not so much a matter of losing your shame as out growing it. You have to make peace with yourself and realize the past does not have to dictate your future. If you can not forgive yourself how can you expect anyone else to be able too?

Realize that the baggage you have been and are carrying is simply that. Stop dwelling on the past, as you say, you;re a different person now. Should you have religious faith, ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself, as well. Should you not be particularly religious, drop the baggage and move on with your new life.

Try reading The Purpose Driven Life and ask God to remove these thoughts. Time heals everything.

Don't let others put you down. Move foward. Repeat positive readings daily in the mirror. This will help you reprogram your thought patterns. Let it go because life is too short.

We all have a mental picture of who we are, how we look, what we're good at, and what our weaknesses might be. We develop this picture over time, starting when we're very young kids. The term self-image is used to refer to a person's mental picture of himself or herself. A lot of our self-image is based on interactions we have with other people and our life experiences. This mental picture (our self-image) contributes to our self-esteem.

Self-esteem is all about how much we feel valued, loved, accepted, and thought well of by others — and how much we value, love, and accept ourselves. People with healthy self-esteem are able to feel good about themselves, appreciate their own worth, and take pride in their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. People with low self-esteem may feel as if no one will like them or accept them or that they can't do well in anything.

We all experience problems with self-esteem at certain times in our lives — especially during our teens when we're figuring out who we are and where we fit in the world. The good news is that, because everyone's self-image changes over time, self-esteem is not fixed for life. So if you feel that your self-esteem isn't all it could be, you can improve it.
