People are "horrified" and "disgusted" by this cover photo from a parenting magazine (featured in Yahoo News, today) I say it's not the least bit titillating. What do you think?

I cant understand this either.
I breastfeed my baby (10weeks) wherever & whenever she needs it. I dont care what people think or say. What really fascinates me is that the most people that complain or give me dirty looks are elderly, in those days they had no choice but to breastfeed because the bottle & formula milk are very new, so why are they hypocritical about it? I also get praise from mothers that don't breastfeed because of this reason. I had one guy ask me how I broke my arm when I was feeding my daughter, how embarassing, the whole cafe nearly broke into laughter but he was very sorry when he relised I was nursing!!!!

This question was just posted by someone else. I think it is crazy to be disgusted or horrified by a breastfeeding baby. I breastfed two kids and did so discreetly. When I answered the other questions part of me thought the picture shouldn't be on the front of a mag. After answering that question, I thought I should go back and edit my response. Breastfeeding is natural. It is simply feeding a baby. Discretion is always appropiate as with everything.

Yes I find it offensive and rude. Especially if they don't have a blanket over the baby when doing so. Its fine when they are in the privacy of their own home. But out in public I think there needs to be a stop to this. Thank you for asking this question! This has been the best question yet on Here so far!

In American culture, any exposure of breasts by females tends to cause problems. Why people find breast-feeding offensive is beyond me. Most of us eat in public places and find nothing offensive about that. Most women take great care to cover themselves so as not to expose their bare breast to everyone around them. Some clothing for nursing mothers offer access panels to make the task a little easier on the mother. I find watching a baby (of any species) nurse very calming.

For those that found the picture offensive, avoid watching primetime TV as the popular shows have more nudity than displayed in that picture.

Have fun!

It's a fact of life and part of nature. Does it bother them to see a calf nursing??? puppies? As long as it'd done tastefully and they're not running around with a 3 year old and their breasts hanging out, it's fine! I'd rather see a mother breastfeeding than some 16 year old punk with his pants so low that everything is showing or some 40 year old woman acting like she's 18 with hiphuggers and a midriff top with her stretch marks for all to see.

There's nothing wrong with it. Most women are discreet about it in public by putting the baby blanket over them and such. I saw one woman just whip it out at a restaurant once and that was somewhat offensive. She just sat there in the middle of the place in plain view of everyone with one breast hanging out and a kid hanging off of it. She made no attempt to cover it up or show any consideration for other patrons. That bothers me.

AND in response to whoever said, "...prudish americans..", the question had nothing to say about Americans or any other country so why start bashing on us.

quiet personally I think it's in bad taste, I mean it's one thing having those pictures in the magazine but on the cover? I'm not saying this because I think breastfeeding is "icky" or what not but seriously who wants to go into a supermarket and have to explain to thier kids what's going on in that magazine. Not to mention I think breastfeeding moms are getting pushy about letting it all hang out. I dont care if you breastfeed but dont push it in my face.

I'm not at all offended. Breastfeeding is natural and normal. I do think that discretion is a good idea if a woman is breastfeeding in public, but there was nothing at all wrong with that photo.

If the lady keeps it discreet and low-profile, I can't imagine anyone finding it objectionable. I saw a lady nursing her baby in a good restaurant and no one objected. Would those people rather have the baby raising a big fuss because he's hungry?

The funniest is the report that women are hiding these from their husbands.

Do they have such low expectations of their men that they expect to come home and find them humping the coffee table where this magazine is lying ?

Heck I need at least to see panties before I want to do that.

Ladies...lighten up !
