I have difficulty of losing weight since I have gained 15Ib last year.
I used to comsume aspartame(sugar twins) 50pages/day.

Recently, I have read a book and it clams that "artificial sweeteners boost insulin by fooling the body into reacting to them like sugar. The more unused insulin in your bloodstream, the more fat your body stores"

Is that true??
Will aspartame slow down my metabolism in some way?
Is it the reason why I can not lose that extra 15 ib?

p.s. I count calorie carefully, but it seems like I can not lose weight at all....

In the past, I used aspartame to control my weight, but I did not gain any single Ib...
However, after gained that extra 15 ib....(due to bad eating habits)

I have difficulty to lose weight.......

Is "aspartame" the main reason???which causes my metabolism slower than others?? and makes my body easier to store fat than other people?

Thank you for your answers...........

yea all artificial sweeteners eventually catch up to you and most of them contain ingrediants that causes serious problems like cancer and liver/kidney damage (contains things like chlorine)...msg is another problem chemical thats added to alot of foods (at places like any fast food restaurant)....it makes you hungrier and causes weight gain....you should eat only natural and whole foods...more vegtables...etc....if you still cant lose weight you should see a doctor to make sure you arent losing it because a medical reason...also try to stay away from things that say...fat free or sugar free...try to go organic it will also make you feel better!

It's not going to have a direct effect on your metabolism, but what it does is increase your appetite, so you need more food to feel full, which could interfere with your weight loss efforts.

There are so many factors that affect metabolism, that only a health professional who's able to perform specific tests on you can tell you exactly what's happening with your body's metabolism.

The number on the scale is only one thing. It doesn't take into account the density of your bones, or the amount of muscle your body has. You might not need to lose the 15lbs, have you thought about that?

Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners get hammered in health community from time to time. Most of it is unfounded. There is no evidence that aspartame slows down metabolism. I don’t think aspartame is a reason for your difficulty to lose weight.
My recommendation is to reevaluate your diet and exercise plan.

Reduce your current stress. Your stress hormone cortisol is usually activated by extremely low-calorie weight loss plans, intense training, lack of rest and day-to-day worries, which brings about a spike in glucose levels as part of your blood. More worryingly, it can promote blocked arteries and fat develop around your internal organs, putting you susceptible to diabetes and heart disease. Really the only prescription for this is to… chill out.
