i'm in a foreign country and the food here is different they have very little american brands...i want to make something that requires half&half and i went looking for it at the local supermarket but they don't have it or may not even carry it....what is the another name for half&half? is whipping cream the same thing? i want to make fresh mash potatoes!

If you can't find a product labelled half 'n half, try mixing equal parts cream and milk together. Whipping cream isn't the same thing, it's richer and heavier than light cream or a milk/cream mixture (half 'n half).

What is half&half?
I assume you're talking about cream of some sort...maybe half cream -
In which case half cream is only full cream with half the fat in it...so go for it and chuck in the full cream version----- Usually the food ends up tasting richer and creamier!

Look for light cream,or you can mix heavy cream with whole milk and get what you need. If you can get heavy cream use that for the potatoes, you wont be disappointed.

no whipping cream is not the same, my grandma used to use something like moca mixor somthing in her mashed potatoes, it was in a yellow carton
