It's normal to be scared but she'll be OK, just make sure that her phone works and help her lock all the windows and doors at her home. The person who committed the murder has more than likely left the area, or the police are tracking them down, so they won't hurt your grandma. You should talk to her about it and let her know you are concerned for her safety. She'll be fine, and it's so sweet of you to worry about her.

It is very loving of you to be concerned for your grandmother.

1) Help her to make sure that all the doors and windows on her house can be locked easily. Sometimes, if a lock is too stiff or tricky to work properly, an elderly person can't do it. Your dad or a friend can help with this.

2) Make sure she has a cordless phone that she can carry when she is in the house. That way if someone breaks in, she can hit 911 ASAP.

3) Give a mace pr pepper sprayer to carry around her neck when she goes out.

4) Call her everyday to check up on her.

Talk to your parents about your fears and ask them to help you find a way to feel more secure in your home and about Grandma in her home. You might also talk to your school counselor about your feelings once you get back in school.

In the meantime, keep your doors and windows closed and locked, especially if you're home alone, and don't answer the door if you don't know who's there. Never tell people that you're home alone, especially not on the phone. Keep in mind that you're not supposed to be a prisoner in your own home, but you should be smart about what you do when you're there.

The odds of another murder happening in the same area are slim, but if you are really worried, make sure she locks her doors and windows and you could even get her a dog. Honestly they are the best deterrent for a break-in.
