I personally would recommend looking at the Toyota Corolla over the Yaris. Look for the Corolla on sale and you can typically find them for the same cost as a Yaris.

The Yaris only has 110 HP while the Corolla has 130
I perfer my gauges in front of me while driving instead of the heads up display with the display sticking out the center.
They both get 40mpg on the highway.
Corolla feels more durable, while the Yaris feels flimsy.

Go and test drive them, you'll see the difference.

I think it's ugly. But then that's my opinion of most cars made. They all look like clones of each other. You used to be able to tell models, and makes apart from each other. There are a few exceptions. Very few.
Toyota sales have topped the big three for the first time this year. Probably will be reliable, with good gas mileage.

Only 110HP. I complain about my car and it's hitting 148HP. I think the Yaris is great if you don't drive on the freeway -or fast- that much. It's so cute, but might be too small.
The best thing to do is test-drive it. I know I will soon before I start school. Rising gas prices are killing me!

good luck!

It looks like someone washed a Camry in hot water to shrink it down.

Good car, not a lot of features, great milage, will run for ever, and will have excellent resale value.
