Get a good quality rope toy...the ones that appear to be twisted string tied in a knot. Soak it in unsalted broth. Dry it in a very slow oven. she will try to chew all the falovor out of that, and it works as dental floss to keep her teeth clean, and her breath fresh.
If she grows tired, (couple of months)as the flavor is gone, just wash by hand, and re-soak.

Don't get the ones at the dollar store, but the Hartz ones at your grocery store are ok.

Take the dog to the vet. If you feed your dogs canned or wet type food, they can get tartar build up rapidly, EVEN WITH BRUSHING. Some dogs naturally build tartar up faster than other dogs. A really bad buildup can cause the gums to become infected, which can cause horrific breath. Also, there could be a tooth or teeth with decay under the gums called neck lesions. These can cause bad breath also. All the treats and Greenies will only mask a symptom. Take the dog to the vet and have his mouth checked and schedule a dental cleaning.

It depends what is causing the bad breath.

You can get little tooth cleaning finger tips that have a brush on them and you slip them on your finger.. that's what I use for my dog because he would take a brush and run, too.

Or you can get your vet (sometimes local dogspas do it too) to do a full scale cleaning.

Another thing to try is 'Yipyaps' if you have the money.. they are dog breath mints.

HOWEVER - you want to look at the source of the problem. Likely, it is one of two things. Either she is having problem with her teeth (not just the outside, but that one is rotting or something) OR she could need her anal gland expressed... which is something either a vet or a groomer who offers the service can do for you. This is a gland that gets clogged and the toxins can affect breath in dogs. Often they are able to unclog it themselves when they lick themselves back there, but some dogs, depending on their build/tongue length/vigor aren't able to do it for themselves.

Good luck!

You need to consult a vet to make sure there is no medical problem causing the bad breath. He might suggest a cleaning. This is done under anesthesia so the dog will be ok.

You can feed her a product called "Greenies". they are little semi hard things that have breath fresheners in them. Pedigree has a biscuit called "Breath Busters.

My dog likes to eat ice. This seems to clean his teeth well. He is 10 y/o and never had a cleaning.

Extreme bad breath usually happens if the dog has bad teeth. Have this dog's teeth checked by a vet. A vet can also teach you how to brush your dog's teeth. It's not hard.

It can also be a case of poor diet but not as likely as a severe problem with teeth and/or gums.

Well you cant really keep the dog from licking herself. Go to your local pet store and they should have treats except they are mints. If your dog doesnt like them however just try out different brands and flavors.Hope This Helps!!!

Go to petco and they have a product called "Greenies" I have yet to see a dog they wouldn't eat one. It works great for keeping their teeth clean and healthy with the wonderful benefit of 'good' breath. (as good as dog breath can get)

Go to your local pet store and buy these little dog bones called Greenies. They're wonderful for bad doggy breath. I give them to my two pups all the time and they love them. Plus, they're also sold cheap singly so you can test them first to see if you like the results before you buy a bag!

Go to your vet to see if she has any treats that can help with that. There are also lots of doggy treats that supposedly freshen a dogs breath that you can buy in the pet store or shopping mall.

Do you feed your dog table food? That can't cause bad breath because food cause plaque and needs to be removed by brushing. They also have slip on finger brushes for dogs teeth maybe that won't scare her.
