Well the first time i was praying and then i just got to saying hallelujah over and over then in my stomach felt like it was against a heater and then i got this exhilarating feeling and then i started speaking in tongues. it was rather odd because while i had control over my tongue i could control what i was saying. i spoke for about 3 minutes straight and i didnt reallly need to breathe and i was stomping the ground. When i was finished everything looked way brighter. Although my life isnt perfect im still not as bad a sinner as i was before and i love this side of life. When i first got is i knew so much more about the bible and stuff even though i never read it much. It was on me so much to the point that everytime i would think of the goodness of Jesus i would start to shout. I even shouted in the hallway at school. God is awesome, his son Jesus is too.

At the time it happening to me, it was a very liberating and spiritual experience. I was able to let my body completely go and whatever came out or happened was out of my control. Since I have now grown spiritually (that was many years ago) I no longer believe what I did at the time I "spoke in tongues". But I still look back on that experience and am grateful that I came away from that with the confidence to look like a total idiot in front of a group of my peers and not be ashamed. That probably wasn't the answer you were looking for.

When I was given the gift of the Holy Ghost, I felt peaceful, and warm in my heart.

When I spoke in tongues? Heavenly Father helped me to learn Portuguese really fast, so I could share the gospel as a missionary in Portugal. I had studied languages before, but I had never been so able to pick it up, and annunciate it so well.

Best wishes!

Wow, you must be smoking something real harsh. What the hell are you talking about? Receiving the holy ghost? What, you just grabbed your ankles and took it? Spake with tongues? Is that even a word?

I believe you recieve the Holy Ghost when you get saved and are then empowered to do the great comission. I did get baptized in the Spirit w/ the evidence of speaking in tongues, but nothing really changed for me. i was on fire for God before, and i'm still on fire now!

Tongues in the Bible refers to a known language. When Paul and the other apostles spread the gospel to all nations they could not speak all languages. They were enabled by the Holy Spirit to speak in that nations language. Now that all nations have heard it is up to the nations to spread the gospel in their own tongue or missionaries to learn their language and spread it.
Tongues have ceased as far as the Holy Spirit using others by enabling them so I do not speak in tongues.

28 years ago, was supposed to be a special/spiritual occassion in the life of a catholic child, I was smacked upside the back of my head in the procession line, by a nun, because my sponser tripped on the carpet walking down the aisle in church and caused me to wobble out of line a tad.

No one speaks in tongues at Holy Ghost filling, except those who are deceived by the devil-completely. And it may not be the Holy Ghost they are filled with.
And you can quote me on that!

I can't remember it has been a long time. But don't believe anyone that says it is from the devil and not real. It is a wonderful blessing and gift from God.
