I am ordering my wedding dress in about 2 days and I absolutely can't make up my mind about which color to choose. It is definitely between those two (white or ivory).

I have a pretty good tan, so I know either one would look okay. Is there that big of a difference between the two colors?

I know it's up to me and not anyone else, but I seriously don't know which to choose.

???

I'm not crazy about that bright, stark white. I would go with eggshell or ivory. That compliments any skin color regardless of time of year. Also, it prevents your groom from even considering a white tux!

I'm not crazy about Ivory. To me, it seems like you're saying you're not quite "good enough" for white. White is traditional and there isnt' that much difference but for some of the older folk there will be a marked statement by choosing ivory.

Plus, it is harder to find accessories in ivory (pen, guestbook, baskets, etc).

These people who are saying that white doesn't look as good are ignoring a key fact... ALL BRIDES LOOK BEAUTIFUL ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. No one is looking at the shade of your teeth of the color of your tan. People are focused on the bride, the groom, her dress, the reception, and THEIR LOVE. Choose the dress that best suits you and your family values.

Dark skin is a good contrast to a pure white dress, but light skin or those in the middle are best with ivory. You'll look washed out if you're pale and in white. Only take your tan into consideration if you expect to keep the same color until the day of the wedding. Consider sunburn and red discoloring of your skin from the tanning as well.
It's also good to bring a little color into the dress, perhaps one that matches your eyes. Look for beadwork or shimmer in the gown that will bring your features out. Try on the dresses, look at them under different types of light. It would be good to take some photographs with you in them under the different lights. You need to seehow you'll look in each situation --the ceremony and reception.
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

To accent your tan you should wear ivory. Also to be different. Everyone wears white. Oh and congratulations on the wedding. I hope you have a happy life with your spouse.

i say ivory, because im all about being a little bit different, while still going with tradition, which you will be doing if you choose ivory because it is so close to white! definitely ivory!

I think that the ivory will compliment your tone, rather than plain old traditional white. It's more natural looking and will enhance your glow. It will bring out more of your natural beauty

It sounds especially....kinda like a marriage invitation that has white with ivory border. attempt to circulate with an ivory that has somewhat extra purple than yellow....that would desire to be barely sufficient assessment to look such as you meant to do it and circulate good with something of your colorations. sturdy success!

I'm with everyone else here--stark white-white does not look good---the ivory-eggshell, etc. would look fab with your tan--you'll still have it by the Big Day, yes?

I wore my mother's--it was awesome--we cut out the back, added new sleeves, etc. and it was, by no means..>WHITE!

If I hadn't worn mammy's, I'da gotten PINK!

This may sound crazy, but are you sure it's "the dress?"

When I found mine, I absolutely knew and had no problems deciding...

It was ivory, by the way.
