As for you having a right to be mad. You sure do, but you may getting mad for all the wrong reasons at all the wrong people.
First of all you sound young so you can probably get by on 4 or 5 hrs of sleep and you can go to bed early tonight and make up for it.
Secondly it does not sound as if you are the owner of the domicile so your dad has a right to play his radio if he wants to.
YOU have a sleep problem so you want to get mad at your dad what kind of logic is that? Hey, my foot hurts so I get to be mad at you? Why don't you sit down with your dad and tell him about your problem. You have to pick the right time to talk with him, a time when neither of you are in a bad mood or mad at the other. When you talk to him do it in a such a way that makes it sound as though you are asking him for help. And remember, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

You have more than sleep problems. You have family problems and anger problems as well.
Neither of you seem to be able to talk with out being angry I gather and cussing each other out.
And by the way most people get enough sleep out of getting 6 hours sleep.
Try staying up all day the next time you can't get to sleep until 5 am and I bet that you will get your sleeping time back on track and if you and your father can't get along maybe it is time for family counseling.

i know what you mean!! It happens to me too. I only fall asleep at 5 o'clock and 6 hours later I have somebody telling me I sleep too much (and they had a good 9 hours sleep)!
Get mad, and do like I did: I told them I couldn't sleep and made the math of comparing the hours of sleep with them:
your night - 9 hours of straight sleep without interruptions
my night - if i get lucky 4 straight hours and 2 hours on and of dozing while I shout to somebody to just let me be and let me sleep.
They still didn't understand but don't bother me anymore as I explain I'm trying to get back to a normal night sleep and they sure aren't helping.

Nope - your dad is right. You have your days and nights turned around like a baby does sometimes. Since you woke up earlier than you wanted then maybe tonight you can go to sleep earlier because you're tired. And tomorrow you can get up earlier than today and so on until you're back in a normal sleeping pattern. You'll feel crappy for a couple of days though.
We have to adjust my grand-kids bedtime like this in the couple of weeks before school starts because they get used to staying up and sleeping later during the summer.

until you move out it is dads way or the highway, if your not working til 5 in the morning then there is no reason why you should be sleeping all day, you sound lazy to me, most people in the real world only get 5 to 6 hours of sleep a night plus why should every one else have to be quiet cause you can't get out of bed, get over yourself or take some Tylenol pm

ask him to buy you some Melatonin. Its an over the counter item that helps you fall asleep. Its non addicting because melatonin is a naturally occuring fluid in the brain that helps you fall asleep, you just need more of it. Take it one hour before you want to go to bed. It only stays in your system for 3 hours so you have essentially a 4 hour time period in which to hit the sack in. It works great! i use it all the time when i feel like im too worked up to fall asleep on my own.

well, if you were to suffer the few nights bad sleep and keep getting up early even though you haven't slept that long, eventually you would go to sleep sooner and when you woke up you'd be perfectly rested
also, do you exercise? a half hour to an hour of jogging every day or every other day will help you sleep too
and don't eat too soon before you want to go to bed, going to bed with too much undigested food in your stomach makes falling asleep harder

ok first, if you start using sleep aids you will never be able to stop. try something strenuous during the morning time. for instance after you get up in the morning (granted you slept) exercise for 45 min to an hour, you do this for a couple of days I guarantee that you will be able to sleep. I normally have problems sleeping if I don't exercise. This will help you in SOOOOO many ways. try kickboxing videos or salsa that is really fun.

No you don't. You get more sleep than I do. I average about 4 hours (on a good night). On the other hand, he doesn't have any right to curse you for being tired. Tell him you have a serious case of ensomnia and you need to see a Dr. Maybe he'll leave you alone then.

Talk to mom. I hope there is a mom. Tell her you are having this problem. Everyone needs sleep and a good amount of it. You need to find out what is causing this. If you let this go on long enough it can effect your health, even at your age.
If there is no mom then when there is a good time talk to dad. Tell him what is going on. He just needs to understand.
