I am a teacher in a ridiculously poor school urban district. There are a lot of places to get supplies many of which were already mentioned - walmart, big lots, target...
there is also the option of searching websites for free materials - especially contacting the religious headquarters for free print materials.
If you want to continue with teaching and want to have consistant materials try going to office depot - they offer a teacher rewards program that is really cool. It gives you discounts, coupons, freebies, and gift cards - it has been a godsend for me.

go to the 99 cent stores or big lots. they always have school supplies for cheap.
as for teaching aids... ebay, craigslist.org (sorry can't help much with aids, but definitely go to the 99 cent store for the supplies)

most department stores have a sign up sheet for tax exempt for a business such for church and school and in your case sunday school. Check with the local department stores such as target and walmart (walmart sometimes donates supplies)
