Why is it when a Christian points out something that is totally unacceptable by God, in accordance to His Word, non-believers want to get hostile and call Christians "homophobes" and such?

People who do that sort of thing don't have any rational, reasonable, or logical things to say in response. So they pull out the rocks and start throwing them.

They dont accept what we believe as Gods "word". Many times(just like some Christians) their is only a supereficial knowledge of how the Bible came to be and why it hold up. Always remember an Atheist has nothing to work with, to them there is no purpose to existence, so anything(to most) goes.

Because they do not believe its his word. The bible was put to paper my man, with their own opinions, fears, assumptions, and beliefs.

I don't understand how you can assume that passages such as killing disbelievers, killing disobedient children, not mixing fabrics, not eating pork or shellfish, women not braiding their hair or wearing jewelry is the word of God and not of man.

I don't understand how you can believe that a being powerful enough to create the UNIVERSE, from every atom in every grain of sand to solar systems to galaxies...how a being such as this has HUMAN emotions, HUMAN traits, and HUMAN wants and desires.

I don't understand how you can take stories like Genesis seriously. You don't know who wrote it, who edited it, who made the decision to put it in the bible. We have proof that the timeline does not match, and the fact that there are TWO different creation stories in Genesis to begin with makes it all the more unbelieveable.

I don't understand how you can ignore the corrilation between religion and human needs

I don't understand how you can say the bible is the word of God, yet every other religion's texts aren't...they are all just as valid as the next.

So, when you say God Hates Fags.....I don't think it was him saying that.

Why "Non-believers" become hostile when Christians "point out something that is totally unacceptable by God," is because of three reasons that come to mind.
[1] The truth does cause agitation of the soul. Sin may have immediate pleasure, but it is not lasting. The truth shows the shortness of sin's pleasure and its devestating effect on the one who enjoys it (despair and death). But people may be quite attached to them and the truth is attempting to divorce them from it for the sake of lasting pleasure (e.g.) joy, security, happiness, fulfillment in doing what is right before the Lord.
So, this conscious or unconscious clinging to sin and its immediate pleasure and then the truth pulling them away from it is quite irritating and causes anger. Just ask St. Augustine when he converted. Or just read his confessions.
[2] The reason why "Non-believers" get angry when a Christian points out evil ways is because the Christian is a sinner. Although we are faulty instruments of salvation, the non-believer only sees that we are sinners. We are inconsistent with living what we believe. However, they fail to understand that it is a life long process to be what we live. They have no patience, but I wonder if they have been IMMEDIATELY and CONSISTENTLY successful in their own personal resolve to live what they believe? Anyway, the problem is the person seeing the sinner and not hearing the truth that comes from God within them. So, if all they see is the sinner they will not hear the truth when uttered. Also, it is hard for them to recocile with the fact that God allows us sinners to participate in His ministry and speak His truth. We are wounded healers you and I and that is a complete mystery to them.
[3] They misunderstand what the Christian is doing when pointing out evil ways. This could be (and usually is) because the Christian does not have the sinner in mind and what they are going through. They want immediate results when pointing out evil ways. Yet, the sinner who hears them must rise above sin, in God's grace, according to his nature. A pill does not heal us any faster than what the body can take. Too much we O.D. too less and we remain ill. So it is with God's grace and the pointing out of evil. We must consider the nature of the person as well and how quickly or slowly they can convert. Augustine took several years to convert and converted even more after his conversion.
Yet, all this pointing out of evil is for the sake of the sinner to have a free and happy life. The Christian is actually being a brother or sister to them. As stated in Exekiel 3: 18-19.
If I say to the wicked, "You shall surely die," and you (the Christian) give them no warning, or speak to warn the wicked from their wicked way, IN ORDER TO SAVE THEIR LIFE, those wicked persons shall die for their iniquity, but their blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and they do not turn from their wickedness, or from their wicked ways, they shall die for their inquity; but you will have saved your life.
And so, the Christian is doing this because they desire the freedom and happiness of the sinner and themselves.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

God's and your beast of burden

Because if you are using Christianity to judge someone else, it is wrong. We all have the right to live our own lives, and we will be judged by a Higher Power after we die. Jesus preached tolerance, as in "He who is without sin cast the first stone" which means none of us are perfect. I am able to make changes for myself, but no one else has the right to dictate how I live my life. And there is so much intolerance in some religious circles that hides behind the Bible and purports to be Christianity right now it is shocking and wrong. I would say that you need to search within yourself and make any changes that you feel will make you a better person, but no one has the right to make moral judgement of other people except God.

Ok Let me start this one by saying I am a christian too.

People who are doing something wrong already know they are doing something wrong. They don't need us to tell them that! If a person is not saved, (has not committed their lives to Jesus Christ) They do not need you or me to tell them what they need to fix. What they need to hear is that Christ offers a better life, joy, peace ABUNDANT LIFE, and fulfillment.

The job of the Holy Spirit is to convict, thats not our job. No where in the Bible does it say that Jesus convicted anyone. As a matter of fact, the only people he judged were the pharisees who claimed to know the word. Remember the story of the woman who was being stoned for committing adultery? Jesus went right to the people and said "He who is without sin, cast the first stone" and when everyone else walked away, he helped the woman up, and said "neither will I condemn you".

God works out all those things. We dont have to focus on it, once people accept Christ they will, out of a desire to please him, be transformed supernaturally into what God expects them to be.

If you spend your time condemning people, saying "If you have sex before marriage, you are sinning" or "Homosexuality is wrong", you are not doing what the word calls us to do, which is to LOVE people into the kingdom.

God loves people, and anyone who hurts people, even if doing so in his name, is not doing what he wants us to.

I'm a little confused as to why you even ask for the opinions of non-believers...I've looked at your other resolved questions, and you always pick people who agree with you as best answer. At least some theists(and atheists) have the common sense and decency to critically examine each answer and choose the one that makes the most sense--in regards to the question that was asked--even though it may not jibe with their beliefs. You may not like it, but if it answers the question, deal with it and just say "Fair enough."

For starters, this is not your podium. This is a forum to ask Questions and supply answers. So why are you pointing anything out?

Second, because it's obvious that some christians gleefully fasten upon bible verses as excuses for hating.

It is your opinion that it is the word of god, and your opinion that it is unacceptable by god.

There are over 30,000 different christian organizations, we're just tired of each christian looking at the same book differently.

If you can't all agree, you've got to agree to throw the sucker out.

Because the laws of man shouldnt be based on bible scriptures. "render unto Ceasar what is Ceaser's and render unto God what is His. Gays have the right to happiness and hot monkey loving too. I am not gay but i just don't care. If you are against gay marraige and all that good stuff. Just don't do it. But expecting everyone to abide by God's law is just stupid.
