For those of you who walk your dog, how does your dog react when it smells a skunk? Does it walks away from the smell, approaches to investigate, or keeps walking as if it's not there? I'm asking because I'm wondering if dogs find the smell offensive as we humans do.

dogs adore the smell of skunk .........alive or dead .
dogs will play with a dead skunk ...........and retain as much of smell as possible .

if needed ..............cleaning your dog after a skunk encounter , should be done outside .
use a combination of tomato juice , lemon juice , water , and dog shampoo . repeat as necessary .

cheers !

We don't have skunks here so I can't really say, but in my experience, most dogs LOVE a good stinky smell, and they often roll in it to "perfume" themselves and get it all over their own bodies. My dog, I know, would do that, hehe.

Well , ya gotta wonder "What the hell are THEY thinkin?" , cause dogs just love ANYTHING dead and foul smelling, and what they'll do is go over to it , smell it , THEN immediately roll onto their backs and start rolling around on it!! why? i dunno - it's a dog thing. We let our Beagle out once about a week ago , and she came back smelling like a dead maggot , which meant bathtime ASAP!
