I'm serious...I have a comcast phone/internet/cable bill that totals $700 something dollars in my name...the person who did it (who I know personally) told me that they changed the last 2 digits on my ssn. I have 2 bills, and one that says that theyre putting it on my credit report, for evidence.

Unfortunately, I dont know my ssn by heart, and I know that if i ask the person for it, they will know why I'm asking, and wont tell me. Therefore, I dont even know if the ssn is mine or not. I figured that was the most important thing as far as who the bill is sent to.

So, what do I do? if the ssn is mine, or maybe even if it is not, I'll have a credit score already. The person who did this has done it to many people, her son, her mother, and her sons girlfriend...and thats people that I know of in the last 2 years...So thats another issue....I Know For A Fact that the person will continue to put bills into my name once I am an adult...and I wont be able to see the bills anymore (contd

and therefore, will have to pay for credit reports like every 3 months...is there any way to...I guess, tell the govt or something so that they know (if they care) that any services charged from the state of michigan from this day forward are corrupt? (I would be living in another state by then, by the time that i can do anything about it). Also...what do i do about applying for student loans and such...i would assume that it could take a while for my score to be wiped clean, and I would be starting college while I am still 17...if that matters.

thanks for the advice... if you have any questions, ask them on here and I will add the answers as a detail

kittyrogers, you ignorant moron!

Kids are a prime target for identity theft because they DON'T check their credit reports.

To answer your question...you are being very cagey about who is stealing your identity.

You have two choices. If you want to clear your credit history, it's going to involve calling the police, and filing affidavids with all of these creditors. In that affidavid you will have to swear that you don't know who the person is that used your ID.

If, in the event of the police investigation, they discover you are lying, they will prosecute you.

Therefore, you get to make your first grown-up decision. Do you rat on your friend and call the police, in order to save your credit history and get out of the legal obligations she has placed on you?.....

Or do you turn in your keep quite and watch our credit continue to be destroyed. And watch your "friend" continue to steal from other companies and trash other people's credit?

Go to the link below for information on ID-Theft and how to report it. I hope you make the right decision.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question...did you say your mom did it? If it was your mom that did it, there's no real way of disputing the charge unless you incriminate her. If that is what you want to do though, you will have to find out your ssn some other way...like when you go back to school, does your school make you feel out an emergency contact paper? Usually, your mother or guardian would have to put down your ssn on that sheet. And then your next step would be to contact Comcast directly and tell them, "Hey, I'm only 14, I did not authorize these charges what are you going to do about it?" Even if you don't have your ssn, you might still be able to dispute it just by saying that you're underage and you were too young to even consent to those charges.

I'm going to school right now to be a paralegal and am hoping that someday I can work with an attorney to get the laws changed so that you have to show proof of who you are and so no other children can be abused by their parents and have ruined credit before they have a chance to do it themselves because my boyfriend is in a similar situation right now. We are trying to buy a house, but we can't because there are items in collection because his mom put bills in his name and has ruined his credit.

I hope that helps, just write me back if you have any other questions...

Anyone under the age of 18 cannot enter into a contract with out their parents consent. They also cannot have anything put under their credit report till age 18.

first step is to tell your parents. Then call the police. Have your parents contact the credit bureaus & notify them that your SSN has been compromised.

Is it your parent who has done this?

If not, you need to tell your parents immediately.

ok, since it is your mom who did it, you need to tell the principal at your school or some other trusted adult.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you sweetie. Life is extra hard when you can't trust your own mother.
