there are soooo many ways to answer this one.. it has to be protected in much the same way as it is when purchased by the dozen... enclose the egg in something such as styrofoam with it being at a thickness that would take the impact moreso than the egg.

an easier, more practical solution is to pack it in bubble wrap and cardboard/styrofoam, then attach a big parachute which will catch the wind.
