It can't take 16 weeks that almost 1 quarter of a year and that has to be illegal. Check your paperwork when you booked the flight, if it states that anywhere on your paperwork, you have to wait it out.
If it doesn't draft a letter explaining exactly what happened, who told you it woudl take 16 weeks, what you tried to do to get it back sooner, and travelocity's answer. You can get help with drafting the customer service letter at:
http://www.planetfeedback.com
Take that letter and keep a copy.
Send that letter to:
Better Business Bureau
Attorney General
Travelocity's Corporate Headquarters
Travelocity (where you booked the flight)
The airport where you were going to leave
I know it seems like a lot but it's really not. the letter will be the longest part and thesae days you can do everything online.
I understand you have to wait for a refund but it's usualy 7-10 days, NOT 15 weeks. 4 weeks, MAYBE, not 16, sounds too weird....
Do your research with your paperowrk

Because Travelocity are a bunch of sock cuckers! I booked a flight with them in June and paid by card. The flight was subsequently unavailable so they refunded the fare LESS their handling fee. Yes I was very p*ssed off with them and posted a warning to everyone here. That post elicited a few other tales of outrage. I eventually went to an American Express office and bought a more expensive flight but when I checked on Travelocity they were charging the same for that flight.

I HAVE HAD BAD EXPERIENCE WITH TRAVELOCITY TOO.
BUT SINCERELY, ITS A MULTI PARTY TRANSACTION AND THE AVERAGE TRANSACTION ON THE INTERNET TAKES 2 TO 8 WEEKS FOR A TRANSACTION. TRAVELOCITY IS A SCREW UP QUITE ALLRIGHT BUT THE AIRLINE FIRST MAKES A REFUND THEN TRAVELOCITY DURING WHICH IT GOES THROUGH SEVERAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTION N U KNOW THERE ARE ONLY 5 WORKING DAYS IN A WEEK. IT WILL NOT TAKE I6 WEEKS AS THAT IS AN ESTIMATE. JUST BE PATIENT AS YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY BACK AND REEMBER TO TELL OTHERS TO STEER CLEAR OF TRAVELOCITY

that sucks but at least they are giving you money back you are really suppose to get airline credit i think it is call Air miles but whatever. You should call them and say well can you put me on a different plane and you should upgrade me for free to first class but that's just me and i live in new york so i doubt that really happens to people. Maybe because of the price of gas they want to make sure that it is in there budget because Euro is more then American money now so they want to make sure they don't go bankrupt
