When a dog has a heat stroke, their internal organs bleed. If the stroke is caught and treated early, this will not happen. They will have bloody stool, urine, and blood will come out of every opening in their body. If it gets this far, there is nothing you can do for the dog. I am sorry this happened to you. I don't think you did anything wrong as long as the dog had shade and water. Lots of people have dogs outside on chains. As long as they are loved and taken care of, it is not cruel! Only time will heal the pain, but it will get easier every day. Just don't blame yourself!!

I'm sorry that ur dog died i love dogs and I'm an expert on them i believe the dog had a heart stroke because she couldn't probably breathe in the hot heat the heat will make pets or animals do unusual things outside she probably tried to find some shade but she panicked and she finally gave up and she probably laid on the ground so she could have a rest and was in the heat to long and died I'M SORRY

I got over it by remembering, sometimes it is ok to cry just keep the good memories and also to prevent this from ever happening again dont chain the dog up. My rabbit died of a heat stroke and he was in a cage so he couldn't go anywhere and hide from the sweltering heat. So next let your dog run free around the yard and be sure to keep and eye on her. Did u give her any water?

Have a vet do a postmortem. The problem with tying an animal outside is that we can't keep an eye on them and they can't get away from somebody doing something to them. A while back I read about some kids who beat a dog to death that was tied up like this. People are horrible and will do horrible things to these wonderful beings. That's why we should protect them, not leave them unwatched. I realize why you had your dog outside but there's so much risk (as you now know) to doing it. If you do get another dog please make sure to properly train her/him to not chew and to be a good citizen so that this doesn't happen again.

Heat stroke:
A severe condition caused by impairment of the body's temperature-regulating abilities, resulting from prolonged exposure to excessive heat and characterized by cessation of sweating, severe headache, high fever, hot dry skin, and in serious cases collapse and coma.
They can have a heart attack when they are scared to death or there heart stops.
I know how you feel my dog had kidney failure and passed away last year.
I am so sorry to here this happened.
P.S never chain up a dog!

Very Simple. My daughter-in law soon to be a "Vet" has had several come in for autopsies, but these small animals died in the car they were left in for a very short time, at least on the last one. This lady immediately brought it to the animal clinic and demanded an autopsy now. It was granted. She only left the small dog in the car for about fifteen-minutes. The temperature outside was 99, with an heat index of 105. "Deadly" for anyone. When she shaved the pet and opened the little dogs chest; she then removed the lungs and steam was escaping from the lungs. They, the lungs was bruised, parched, and bleeding.
I was told that air circulation in a car means nothing when it is that hot outside. The Hot Air alone even with circulation will kill an animal. I did not know that myself.

When it is this hot, I let my dogs go out into the yard for only about 5 minutes. They are so happy to come inside again! Even if your dog had water, can you imagine how hot the water became? The dog should have been left inside while you were at work or school - NOT CHAINED UP OUTSIDE. Please don't get another dog unless it is going to become part of the family. Treat a dog the way you would treat a child. How incredibly sad for you to not have known how to care for an innocent pet.

This is why you shouldn't get an outside dog! There is NO POINT to getting a dog at all if you just leave it chained up outside all day. Of course she was bored and stressed, and you probably didn't leave her enough shade. Dogs can get overheated SO easily and die, it's really a simple thing to prevent but so sad because it happens so often.
When animals die, they often bleed from orifices or release their bowels, it just is part of the dying process as their body begins to stop functioning.
If you get another dog (which I wouldn't recommend) PLEASE don't leave it outside! Dogs are pack animals and need to be with people.

Sounds more like a head injury or strangulation. Never heard of bleeding from nose and eyes due to heat stroke.

I'm sorry you lost your dog.
Bleeding out of the nose and eyes is very not normal. So I think there might be more then meets the eye there. Has she eaten anthing diffent?
If you dog had shad and water the chain should have done nothing. How hot was it the day you lost her?
