DO NOT uninstall any or you will be removing important Windows XP updates.
SP-2 when installed became part of the operating system and can only be removed by re-installing windows SP-1.

Windows XP SP-2 was the greatest advancement in Windows security since Windows first came out.
Remove it and your computer wont last a day connected to the Internet!.

I Have ALL those updates and use all of the following.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Service Pack are nothing but collection of security updates or patches that Microsoft give out for free as a one big file to their customer to close the loop holes in their operating system, so that the computer could be secured.
you install the service pack directly to your computer or if your computer has Internet connectivity, then the Automatic update service on your xp machine, get the individual updates that are in Microsoft site automatically and install it as a separate patch, rather than as complete service pack, which is what you are seeing in your add or remove program as 20 or so xp updates.

generally it's advisable to keep your computer up to date, but still if you want to learn, how to uninstall windows service pack 2 use this following Microsoft link to learn different ways to uninstall the service pack....

dont do that.
