As the moon reaches full it rises as the sun sets. The red is due to the fact that it has more atmosphere to travel through, which filters out the longer wavelengths (i.e. blue). It looks huge due to its proximity to the Earth, but careful measurements will show that it is no larger than when it is alone in the big nighttime sky.

Red and huge is caused by viewing the moon when it's close to the horizon. Huge is just an illusion because it's near the ground. Red cause the light is going through atmospheric dust

PMS?

J/k, the redness has to do with pollution in our sky, not any changes on the moon itself. And it looks big near the horizon because our eyes can relate it to objects on the ground (as opposed to it being all alone in the sky). Google search for 'moon optical illusion' or something like that and you'll find tons of sites explaining it in more detail.

That would occur when it rises or descends....There is an optical illusion that makes the moon seem smaller when it is in the sky, than when it is on the horizon (Actual size)....but they are the same size when measured......the redness comes from the the light being filtered by atmosphere, the same way sunsets get their colours.

The atmosphere acts like a lens that bends light so the moon looks larger, and it looks red because different components of light waves from the moon bend differently. That's what I think...

its red cause the moon is in a circular orbit around the earth so its far 4rm earth so the more far an object is 4rm earth the more red it appears cause of the theory called red shift

Because of its distance from Terra and the angle at which the light from Sol hits it.
