My very long hair cat got fleas and when I wash him, he actually bleeds from the flea bites. I can't stand to see him suffer but I don't know what to do. I've tried using the flea shampoo and also FrontLine but nothing works. How can I get rid of them for good? On my cat and in my house??

Try Advantix. We used it on our dog it works VERY quickly and kills most of the fleas within 24 hours. make sure you get the CAT version, it may have a different name. Also try getting a flea collar and a flea comb to get rid of eggs and larvae.
Also you can't just kill the fleas on the cat. You have to kill the fleas in the house as well. Vaccuum. A LOT. And put the used up vaccuum bags inside a garbage bag to prevent any fleas from escaping. Wash or throw out the bedding, clean furniture. Flea eggs can survive washing, however not freezing. Also try using moth balls on the floor they help get rid of fleas. Fleas don't like how garlic makes blood taste, i don't know how it affects cats but if you want to avoid getting fleas yourself you should eat some.
There are also stronger pesticides that you can use to treat entire rooms, but they are toxic so you must be VERY careful with them.
Also if your cat is scratching incessantly then see a vet. They may be able to give them a cortisone shot to relieve the itching or prescribe medication.

the blood your seeing is not from your cat, fleas leave "stuff" behind and when it gets wet it appears to be blood, so don't worry about your cat being in pain or anything like that.

If Frontline isn't working for you try advantage. Advantage is not water proof so if you are going to bathe your cat do it 2-3 days before you apply it. Also make sure you apply it to your cats skin and not just in his fur. If you part his hair above his neck and apply it there it will work best, he wont be able to lick it off that way to. Remember it takes 24 hours to kill all the fleas on your cat, your cat may still get fleas while the fleas in the environment are dying,m so be patient and remember to apply the medicine every month.

I dont know why FrontLine didnt work for you. I have 4 cats and thats what I use on them. It always does the trick. It sounds to me, by what you have said, that your cat might be allergic to flea bites which is causing him discomfort. If you want the fleas instantly gone...nothing is safer or more effective for animals, than Addams flea and tick spray. Its safe enough to use on kittens over 6 weeks of age. As far as your house, a good 'flea bomb' will rid your house of the pest. I would also take it a step further and treat your yard as well.It is recommended that you treat your yard, depending on the product, every 1-3 months. It sounds like your cat is staying infested by going outdoors and then bringing them back in on him. It might appear that the FrontLine isnt working, simply because when he goes outdoors, more are jumping on him, giving you the impression that the original fleas werent killed. You can also use the Addams spray in conjunction with FrontLine. The spray kills fleas and ticks for up to 3 days and fends off mosquitoes for 10 days.

Revolution or Advantage Multi kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and all common types of worms. Use this once a month on your cat and use Siphotrol or another veterinarian approved spray for around the house. But your house probably isn't infested if you aren't getting any bites. If you get rid of their ability to drink from your cat (their primary food source), they will eventually die off as they will not be able to reproduce.

Cats shouldn't bleed from flea bites, a flea allergy is a possibility but still...I would take him to a vet, maybe they are bites from something else?

Good luck!

Your cat might be allergic to flea bites. Take him to the vet and ask for a cortisone shot. Front Line (Top Spot) works best of the flea medicines I've used on my cats.

First you could desire to provide those kittens a bathtub identity recommend a minimum of two latherings with the blue first easy. 2d identity push extra water if in any respect accessible even poultry broth to help run it by way of their equipment swifter. Whats occurred is its absorbed into the cats blood flow and is poisoning it (the two because of fact what you used grew to become into poisonous to cats or that too plenty grew to become into given) If the cats start up performing particularly drained or not moving around as plenty then they could desire to bypass to the emergency vet promptly. My mom once told me to put a touch of Vinegar into their drinking water... I've not had reason to try it, as frontline is working fine on both my short hair cats... but people DO drink vinegar, so it's probrably not harmful, even if it turns out it doesn't work...
