I know that our we are all decendants of immigrants or legal immigranst ourselves, but we have to look out for our well being. Our country is going to be over populated, americans are loosing jobs and its partly due to illegal immigrants. It is againts the law to live here and not be a citizen or have a visa. So why cant we jsut get rid of the illegal immigrants. The key word is illegal! they are breaking our laws and should be punished for it. Send them back and reenforce our boarders. Yes it would be great if we could help all the people in the world but we cant and we do have to look out for our own country. Why do people think it is ok for illegal immigrants to be here? Dont say because we were founded by immigrants because all of that was legal. I have nothing against legal immigrants. its the illegal ones that people defend that i dont understand. How can u defend them?

I never said they weren't good people the point is that they shouldn't be here. Yes we were founded on immigration but when does it stop when our country has no land or resources left? The immigration laws need to be refined to reduce the numbers that are coming in. This is my opinion and i am not looking for people to just agree with me. I jsut want to hear the other side. Thanks everyone for your insight into your opinions.

It makes no sense to defend illegal immigration.
When I was a child, immigrants were happy to be here, glad to learn the language, knew the Flag, studied the Declaration, the Constitution, etc.
Now, illegals are pretty cynical. It is simply a meal ticket; they are on the lookout for the best way to maximize their earning power so that they can send money home (wherever that is) and don't care to learn anything about this country and its values, and the only thing they have to say about its citizens is that they consider us 'lazy' because we adhere to minimum standards for wages and work conditions!
This is unacceptable! I welcome legal immigrants with open arms. I invite those who would enter illegally to work to change their home countries, where they like the value systems, language, and other cultural norms.

Illegal immigrants are a threat to the american way of life. This country was built on principles and values. Peace can not be achieve without laws otherwise there would be chaos. The law is the law. Many people choose to come here legally and they have endured pain throughout the process. it takes averagely nine to ten years to get here legally (if the applicant is not US citizen). How come someone that has been here illegaly for nine or ten years should be granted legal documents despite legal candidate are still in line overseas. If you wish to defend the illegals for humanitarian reason, that is Ok. But , what about those are suffering overseas, those who believed the legal way is the most guaranteed way. May God bless and rewarded them too !!!!

You're right, we have too many illegal immigrants here. Why not arrest them? 1. there are too many for law enforcement or the INS to pick up, 2. businesses want cheap labor, 3. laws do not prevent businesses from keeping illegal immigrants as employees --they either are not enforced or they don't exist. 4. economic conditions and opportunities are poor in Mexico right now.
Solutions would have to address all the causes, and not just be partial Band-Aids. What about businesses sending jobs to Mexico instead of India? This could also be encouraged.

Get the law changed. Have it say that they or any other people can just have at and come here. Then get the government to stop taxing all people. Then get free healthcare for everyone. Establish a welfare state in the US.
I disagree with illegals, but this is what would have to be done to satisfy their agenda, thus giving them no more arguement for amnesty. They would be allowed to stay here if the aforementioned could be done.

Wow....Why are you all of the sudden concerned about illegals? That issue should have been addressed 20 years ago....Where was the outrage then?
I guess it was OK when this govt. petitioned illegals to come here and pick up the labor shortage during WWII....And since many illegals have come here through history to do the labor few want to do, its all the sudden a problem?
You people should have been aware that it would eventually come to this. Sorry, but all this is just a political smoke screen to divert attention from the real threats this country faces, like terrorism and globalism.....
Sorry, but your a little to late to be crying about this issue....

You know that you only want to be reinforced about what you are saying, so i'm not even going to waste my precious words explaining things to you, but I will say that you should seriously check up on some history about legality. What's "legal" has always changed and will always change. Slavery was legal in this country and in many other countries until the laws were changed (just one example for you). If the legality is your main concern, then you seriously need to check yourself.

Because some of the illegal ones want to be legal. They come for a new life. Some of them are good people.

it's not that we defend illegal immigrants..... but we look at the absurdity and hypocrisy of the problem.....
it is absurd and hypocritical for 3 reasons:
1. people complain about illegals draining our system yet we all benefit from their cheap labor
2. illegal immigration would cease if our government would punish small businesses and corporations that hire them
3. policy doesn't exist that provides opportunities for foreign workers who are NEEDED in America.... yet protect the American worker from being displaced or being paid a non-livable wage
illegals come here for a better life.... and we must create policy that will treat them humanely yet benefit all of America as well..... not just large corporations with their huge profits..... this is hurting America!!!!!

Most illegal immigrants are here doing jobs us americans won't do. They would prefer to be here legally, but the process takes a long time and is only for a temporary time. In my eyes they are not criminals they are only looking for a better life. Go to Mexico and work for the wages they are paid and see if you would like it. I guarantee you won't.

Our laws are HERE for a reason...........we cannot PICK and CHOOSE which ones we want to follow. I have no problem with anyone but would like very much for everyone to be on the same sheet of music and not one group get to break a law here and there and everyone say OK. I forsee awful times ahead if we allow that.
