When I moved to Nashville, little crime flooded the papers. 15 years later, more and more youth are headlining our newspapers and tv news persuant to crime. I would like serious responses to 1) what you feel about the increase of crime in "your" city, 2)how the youth are involved and 3) what "you", your community and/or leaders are trying to do to change the situation? School is going to be in session in another week. I am preparing myself not only to 'teach' the academics that are required, but I HAVE to find ways to get to the heart of our kids -to understand what makes them do what they do? To try and involve parents more in their own children's lives: academics, etc. When it comes to sports -I see ALL the parents - but I cannot get these same people to come and meet with me when their children are acting out, not going their work, and making life "hard on the yard" for everybody else (bullying). Rather than complain, I am willing to do what I can to change things

Crime has been on the rise recently, especially kidnapping for ransom.
Try getting the kids involved in community projects- eg. cleaning up of play areas, childrens' homes, old aged homes, community centres, etc. This gives them a sense of purpose, usefullness and achievement at the end since results are seen almost throughout the project. It also keeps them occupied so time is spent constructively.

You can't take the law into your own hands. If you even try to put your hands on a kid then you get arrested for touching a minor.
The liberals aren't going to let the public do what needs to be done with kids that think they can do what ever they want.
Besides some parents just don't care what there kids are doing as long as they are out of there hair.
I can remember when I was growing up, if a neighbor swatted your butt and they told your parents you got another swat from them.
Times have changed, so we change with it or go under.

i commend you, i wish more parents would get involved in their childrens lives. especially as school is concerned. the sad part is, most parents feel teachers are babysitters not TEACHERS. then when their child fails, whose fault is it? you got it, the teacher! you've heard of one horse towns? well, this town doesn't even have a horse lol crime here is not a problem. when we got a turning lane, alot of people were confused as to which lane to be in (no joke) anyhoo, i wish there were more ppl like you and i wish parents would wake up
