I think you have a pretty good routine.

Rest is required. Ignore people who say otherwise. But I would have Day 3 for my rest day Day 4 as Back and biceps and Day 5 Cardio.

Also, if you're trying to add muscle and aren't worried about reducing fat, reduce cardio to 3 days a week. Do more compound exercises (squats, deadlifts, power cleans) and do high intensity with 6-12 reps and 8-12 sets per body part.

Diet is equally important. Carbs should be in the 40-55% range. Protein in the 35-45% range and fat 15-20% for good health and physique. Chose quality foods - reduce simple carbs (refined sugar, processed grains), add more lean protein (whey powder, chicken breast, tuna, egg whites) and healthy fats (fish, flaxseed oil, nuts) to complete a balanced diet.

As for the perfect shape and the time to achieve it, all depends upon what your goal is and where you are right now. You have to accept that not everybody can have great pecs like Arnold or wide back like Franco Columbu. But everybody can maximize their genetic potential and let that be your goal.

Perfect for who? What does that mean to you? Could be 1 month... For me it's never as there is no finish line. It is a lifestyle that you choose.

I know people that come to the gym every day and just dont work hard enough to change their bodies, others come every day , work their butts off, yet ruin it with a crappy diet, or, worse yet, go out drinking and using drugs 3 nights a week..

Your first step is to be happy in your shoes, regardless of what you see in the mirror, then, make a commitment to change your body for the better. Relax, it will come in good time

Depending on your age and many other factors you should be able to come close to perfect shape in about 3 to 6 months.

I think "Day 5: Rest" is very beneficial so I would not listen to those that say otherwise.

Ok,that program is good, but that day 5 rest thing has got to go,i don't mean work out ,I mean run then eat and when you eat wait about an hour and run again ,I would also get some supplements to and you will be in perfect shape in about a year if you are skinny and if your fat then it will take longer trust me!!!

Go to a bead retailer. There are many beatiful beads and lockets to be had. In America now we have a product known as Sculpy which you'll be able to form, bake in an oven and paint. There are little moulds you'll purchase as good. I am so sorry to listen to approximately your Mum.

Unless you replace that day 5, you're never going to get there.

Depends on where you are starting and what you mean by "perfect" shape.
