It's kind of like the Hindu apprach to the Muslime view of God. It originated from India and people who follow the religion usually wear turbans and don't shave their beards. They were these silver braclet looking things called 'Ghara.' There is a lot of prejudice against them in India, largely because neither Muslims or Hindu get along with them despite their peaceful nature. A Sikh person shot Ghandi, and then his wife when she became Prime Minister of the country when she only appointed Sikh body guards to exemplify her trust in Sikh people, when Sonya Ghandi was elected as Prime Minister and she stated that she didn't want to keep the position she handed the job over to a Sikh person to exemplify her trust in the people. The philosophy is very similar to Buddhism, I know all this because my girlfriend is Sikh. You can learn more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikh

needless to say, it is not genuine. in fact, the top minister of India is a Sikh. a number of those issues used to ensue in the 90s while the numerous Sikh brothers have been in contact in terrorist activities. apart from, a brilliant sort of the Sikhs stay in Punjab and a brilliant sort of the policemen are Sikh. So, why could they torture them? a brilliant sort of the Indian military officers and infantrymen are Sikh. Now a days, Sikhs stay in super peace in India and revel in an extremely extreme social prestige yet some incidences had occurred in the previous, approximately 20-30 years in the past.

From Wikipedia:

A Sikh (IPA: ['siːk] or ['sɪk]; Punjabi: ਸਿੱਖ, sikkh, IPA: ['sɪk.kʰ]) is an adherent of Sikhism. The term originates from the Punjabi language where it means student or learner.

Most Sikhs come from the Punjab region although converts from across the globe are increasingly prevalent.

Punjab pronunciation (help·info) (meaning: "Land of five Rivers" (c.f. ap-); also Panjab (Punjabi: ਪੰਜਾਬ in Gurmukhi, پنجاب in Shahmukhi, Hindi: पंजाब, Urdu: پنجاب) is a region straddling the border between India and Pakistan.

Hope this helps!
