Anti- depressants can cause lots of problems with sexual arrosal. YOu should not worry about it they is nothing wrong with you. I would be more concerned about why your girlfriend needs to be on the drug than her not having orgasm.

It's not you, stud, so don't take this as an assault on your ego. With most antidepressant therapy, the sexual side effects tend to be more pronounced until the drug finally, fully gets into the system. Personally, I had a Hell of a time for quite a while (and, as a man, you can just imagine the PAIN that involved), but I got very few complains from the ladies ;-)

"Things" are much better now, however. I believe my brain/body has gotten used to the chemical balance. The can't-orgasm-issue still comes (no pun intended) and goes: but I find the more attentive my partner is, the more intense the foreplay, the more likely it is that--after 10 or 12 hours--I'll pop.

Just kidding.

Sort of.

Just remember her sexual response will get better as she adapts to the drug and finds the right dosage AND remember that her mental and emotional health is more important than even sex right now.

Did I just SAY that? What's happening to me?!

And thanks for your question...

you reminded me to take my meds.

It is very typical. Most anti-depressants interfere with sexual gratification.

She should speak to her doctor about this -- not all medicines cause the same reactions at different dosage levels. The doc might be able to play around a bit so that there will be less interference.

In any case, it definitely is not you -- it IS the meds.

Orgasms start in the head, but are physical. Can you orgasm by yourself? If not then there might be a physical problem. If you can then it is mental. either way talk with an expert and with your partner. The more open you are with your partner the more likely you will solve the problem. There are a ton of books and websites, but it will always come down to being open. Your partner should enjoy trying to solve this problem. If you are enjoying sex, then keep trying. It can only get better. If you past abuse gets in they way of you enjoying sex, then that has to be dealt with prior to the O. Again, talk with a professional.

I think she should report this to her doctor as it could definitely be a side effect of her medicine. There are other anti depressants out there to try that could have the same effect on depression without the sexual side effects.

Its true. Antidepressives cause lack of orgasms. I heard theres a drug to cancel that efect, but time also reduces the effect of the antidepressive. Try to light her fire a lil more than before, some foreplay maybe.
be nice, she's taking those pills for a reason.

Most anti-depressants mess up the sex drive. She may have to switch. I think Wellbrutin (an anti-depressant) is known for having few to none sexual side effects.

It IS the medicine. Most all anti depressants dull sexual response. Be patient and provide LOTS of stimulation.

Trust me...........it's the meds. And the more you stress on her about it the worse it will get. Lay off the pressure and once her body gets use to the meds it will improve. Why is it that a man always freaks out about sex??? Her mental health is much more important than if she is enjoying you in bed!

yeah its normal, anti-depressants reduce your sexual drive significantly. maybe she can talk to her psychiatrist about switching to a medicine that doesn't have these effects....but im pretty sure almost all anti-depressants work this way.
