It is called Underbite or a crossbite. And no, you don't need a headgear. The treatment depends on the kind of underbite. If it is a dental underbite, you can get it corrected by extracting some teeth and with braces. However, if you have skeletal underbite, you may need Orthodontics along with surgical correction of your jaws (Orthognathic surgery). Hope that helps.

The only way to know for sure is to ask your dentist. He/she may refer you to an orthodontist for an evaluation. You have exactly the opposite of what I had. I had to have my lower jaw broken and moved forward while wearing braces. It straightened my teeth and gave me a better bite.

Check with your dentist. He's the one who'll know for sure.
