George W Bush is touring the southern border pushing for his immigration reform,he and politicians like Ted Kennedy have not learned anything from the mistakes that Ronald Reagan made 20 years ago,Reagan gave illegals amnesty with the provision that our borders would be secured and companies that hire illegals would be prosecuted, none of these promises have been kept, result, now we have 12 million illegals or more that is putting a strain on our school system, our health care system and our welfare system, what makes US citizens think that if our borders were not secured 20 years ago they will be secured now with so many greedy politicians in Washington that benefit by illegals being here

Many people generally take comfort in whatever half truths the political heads in Washington have to say, that’s because ‘government’ is the nations security blanket. People here enjoy the idealistic goals set forth by our presidents regardless of whether they follow through or not. I should know something about that; after all I am a Native American Indian and the government as made many hundreds of treaties with us and then enacted laws that ran contrary to those treaties. In this case Reagan made a treaty with the Mexicans and now Bush is making a law to get around it. Should that really surprise anybody?

As for shooting himself in the foot, Washington has been waffling over this for over 50 years and nobody’s been able to put a dent into this issue. I seriously doubt that Bush will be the man to put a stop to it. He’s just doing it because he has a weak domestic policy and his marks in confidence polls are rating him lower than that of Nixon’s. Besides, he really seems to have a propensity for alienating the US with the rest of the world.

Also (and I’m sticking my neck out on this one) I think it’s because he wants to insure the US will always have need for a military because the rest of the world will want to get even with us long after he’s out of office, and we all know that he and his daddy has lots of money invested in various military contractors. So in a manner of speaking he’s shooting himself in the foot so that he can collect the insurance for the rest of his life. It’s just the latest dog and pony show.

The politicians want open borders because 'open borders' means 'MONEY'. That's the whole conflict, in a box, with a bow...
what american citizens want is for immigration laws to be better-enforced, and for countries like Mexico to become more independent, and self-supporting.

He thinks this is a PR issue instead of desperate straights for schools and social services.

He doesn't really want to secure the border, he wants open borders with only screening for undesirables.

with any luck, yet a minimum of he does not have the song record that Obama has to run in this time. LOL! a minimum of he thumps bibles and not "policies for Radicals" that's Obama's bible. Even Michelle used the words that Saul Alinsky, a Marist and Obama's hero, wrote in his e book on the Democratic convention. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, real to how she lies, she stated that those expenses have been from Obama. Yeah, perfect, Michelle. i do no longer think of Obama will make mince meat out of any of the present Republican applicants, till they permit him using his teleprompter. in certainty, all human beings yet Obama could have performed a greater effectual interest this previous term. Obama is a nightmare, no longer in basic terms a Marxist thumping Socialist.

Why does our president keep shooting himself in the foot?--Because Suicide is against the Law. (but they broke many others maybe if we are lucky he'll add this.)
I think he was the child left behind in school. Hopefully, maybe his friends with the FDA can come up with a pill to help stamp out stupidity and give it to all of those taking the lead in Washington.

As I recall from my history, and correct me if I'm wrong, there have been a president or two since Reagan. Don't you think there is enough blame to go around?

Continual Bush-bashing (and don't get me wrong, I have to particular fondness for the guy) shows that it is just more bandwagoning without constructive solutions.

Sadly, it isn't the country he is worried about. The people of this country will have to force this issue down the politicians throat or nothing meaningful will ever happen.

If President Bush is the one that will cinch the NAFTA agreement before he leaves his presidency, doesn't it follow that open borders are the order of the day for him?

"Securing our borders" is likely to be as effective as looking at the fires of hell and saying "maybe I can put them out by peeing on them".

Because he has been getting away with everything that he has done wrong with no repercussions...for himself, that is.
