I agree with you on that one. But people will never stop bringing the past up of christianity because it would be their excuse for not accepting christ. Thats the reason its like this

The main reason is that Christianity is being espoused by its believers as the source of all morality. We are also told that the Bible is unchanging and that the messages of Christianity are clear. If Christianity is moral and its message unchanging then we should have a clear historical record of it making people better than non-Christians. If Christians have the one true source of moral teaching and inspiration then they will behave better than others. So we look at the history of the religion. They had the same Bible, it was the same Holy Spirit in their lives, they had the same moral guidance. And they behaved no better than anyone else. Particularly when you have a religion that bases a lot of its authority on historical claims, its history is important.

To put it in terms that should be familiar to a Christian- a good way to judge a tree is by its fruit. Christianity is a tree, the Christians it produces are its fruit. If we examine the fruit both now and over the history of the tree we find that it's no better than the fruit of other trees.

Christians would have us alter our laws to fit their religious views. They say doing so will make us better people. Shouldn't we, in part, look to history to see if that's been the case?

Christians are making fresh mistakes every day, so that's why it's hard for people to get over it. Somehow people think that Christians should be perfect and not mess up. I'm not quite sure how that got started, but people sure do get a kick out of pointing fingers.

Christians often times claim moral superiority. The sins of their past and present must be brought up so as to remind christians they are not superior. And history shows, Judeo christianity is guilty of the worst atrocities of all religions, so far. This doesnt mean other religions/groups wouldnt have been as bad given the chance. Just that christianity most definatly does not have special access to truth thats clearly evident.
Its important to learn from the past, but first you must acknowledge it.

I agree. Denominations are not a stable theory. it would be appropriate if everybody who broke off of the main Church got here back. If basically we knew which church that grew to become into... properly, its certainly not the Evangelical/Non-denominational church homes... those first started performing interior the 1800s as they broke off of greater well-known denominational church homes. Its not the Lutherans or the Anglicans or any of the different mainline Protestant communities. those broke off interior the 1500s or so from the Western branch of the Church. Its probable not the Orthodox as they broke removed from the unified Church interior the 1090s interior the super Schism. So it is going to be the Catholics, that have been around on account that 32 advert and have been based by using Christ himself. Now that all of us comprehend which denomination grew to become into first... sure, everybody come on back now. The Catholics gave you the Bible. Jesus did not drop it on Peter's head whilst he ascended and say 'you're able to desire to desire this... yet be advantageous to place in writing what's in it first. Time Paradox, extraordinary, top?' in case you heavily examine the Bible, and understand the history of Christianity, you will come to realize that the Catholic place makes the main sense. after all, nowhere interior the Bible does it say that we'd desire to continuously count basically on the Bible.

Its a logical fallacy many try to use

Person A is a follower of Q
Person A did something wrong
Therefore, Q is wrong

By highlighting the fallibility of religious followers, people believe it proves the fallibility of that religion.

Being a faithful Christian puts you in the line of fire from the whole world. We are in Spiritual Warfare---on a daily basis. The world hates us because it first hated God.

Thank you for your wonderful, uplifting spirit.

For those who will, no doubt, insult and persecute you for your question and comments, I would add this to our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

To all the faithful who read questions or answers to our questions relative to our faith in Jesus Christ, that do nothing but mock God and assault the Word of God:

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you for My sake. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven. They persecuted the prophets before you in the same way."
Matthew 5:11-12

"If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you."
1st Peter 4:14

"Hear me, you who know what is right; you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults." Isaiah 51:7

"You will be protected from the lash of the tonge, and need not fear when destruction comes to them." Job 5:21

No one, in their right mind, thinks that of ALL Christians. Just the self-righteous ones, who think they're better than everyone else simply because the claim to "believe" in something other don't.

Because some people have a psychological need to tear Christianity down -- it makes them feel better and less guilty about their own lifestyles -- and what better way to do that than to tear down those who believe in it?

The point is to prove that it is not better than any other faith. It shows no earmark of being "chosen". No religion does. Yet each one claims to be the truth.
