You should notify them as soon as it is practical to do so, normally within 24 hours.

If he's truly willing to pay you directly, file the claim with your insurance company and let them deal with collecting from him. Don't be his patsy! He may try to blow you off, but he won't blow off the insurance company.

Any Bodily Injury should be reported immediately. Your claim looks like strictly physical damage. The insurance company will give you about 30 days to report this claim before they issue a reservation of rights letter and possibly deny the claim due to late reporting. The company does not want to have their situation compromised if they are not able to get correct and immediate data. Pictures would help of your vehicle and the other vehicle's damage if available.

with your own carrier , it should be ASAP, most policies read "in a timely manner" or " a reasonable time after loss" , it is very vague so they will most likely cover the loss no matter what. waiting too long though raising red flags to indicate fraud, be carful

If you file with the other parties insurance you must file before the statute limitations has expired ( california -1 year property damage)

Depending on your insurance policy it is usally within 24 hours if you want them to cover you. You might want to do that fast because he might not even have insurance and then your screwed going to court over the deal

It's any one's wager. You stated on your final query that he hasn't notified them but. If he hasn't notified them, they've no notion who you're, and would possibly not be calling you till they do. So, Just name them. You must even be mindful that you just, the police and witnesses don't examine legal responsibility. Only coverage firms do this. And till they entire their research, the opposite get together isn't at fault but. His receiving a price tag has not anything to do with legal responsibility. A price tag simply says that he violated a site visitors rule. It does now not say he used to be at fault.
