After about 6 or 7 weeks i got REALLY sick. Couldn't keep anything down. My doctor put me on diclectin, which really seems to be working, but i haven't taken my prenatal vitamins since i started on them. This morning, i tried taking one and threw up. Should i avoid taking them until my husband's health coverage from work kicks in and i can get the new prenatal vitamins that split it up into a morning and evening dose? That is supposed to be better if you have morning sickness because it separates the iron from something else, and doesn't make you as sick. I am 8 and a half weeks now, and his coverage won't kick in for another month and a half at least.

My wife had this problem with her first pregnancy, and she was also on diclectin.
There are two big differances in a prenatal vitamin vs a regular multivitaman. It has more folic acid, and more iron. Its likely the iron that's bothering you.
My wife switched for a while to a normal multivitamin + a folic acid supplement in the first trimester. Her doctor thought the prenatal was better, but if you can't keep it down, its not going to do much. I'm not a doctor, but it seems to me that the iron would be more important later when the baby is putting on more tissue. The folic acid is key early. So my advice, I guess, is take the prenatal one if you can, but if you can't, don't sweat it, take a regular and a folic acid and you'll be taking much better vitamins then 99% of mothers in history have taken. If you think taking the vitamin in havles would help, cut the pills in half!

Most prenatal vitamins cause stomach discomfort. When you can, ask the Dr. to prescribe you some vitamins that don't cause nausea. Duet & Duet DHA are very good and don't cause nausea or vomiting. However, they are expensive and are around $40-45 without insurance. With our insurance plan (15-30-45) the Duet Prenatal Vitamins are in the third tier (45). Luckly my daughter got Medicaid and the vitamins are covered at no cost.
Have you checked into getting Medicaid? The income requirements are different for pregnancy than for children. I would check it out. My Husband has insurance through his job, but we also was approved for Prenatal Medicaid. The Medicaid covers Dr's visits, medications and delivery of the baby. You will have medicaid for 2 months after the baby is born for your 6 week check up. Then the baby may have medicaid for the first year to cover all Well Baby check ups.
This is an option to check out. Even with your husband's insurance, there are co-pay to the Dr's prenal visits, deductibles for the hospital stay and delivery, and co-pay for the medications, including prenatal vitamins.
With Medicaid, you can get a decision in about 45 days or less of turning in your application.

I didn't have morning sickness, but I started taken the prenatals before becoming pregnant due to having IVF. Even before pregnant the vitamins made me throw up. I find that taking them before bed with a full glass of water helps. I don't feel sick at all that way.

communicate to your wellbeing care expert approximately changing your prenatal supplements. there are multiple different ones obtainable. i exchange into additionally instructed that those over-the-counter are each and every so often much less extreme and that they are able to be less complicated on you. So perhaps communicate approximately attempting those instead of prescription ones. perfect now the main serious ingredient you ought to maintain on your device is folic acid...if pill are too harsh attempt finding a cereal or some thing with a hundred% each and every day folic acid fee, so which you will shop supply it to your toddler. Multi-grain cheerios has it, and that they flavor large. additionally, attempt taking the prenatal supplements perfect in the previous mattress and have a touch some thing to consume with it. That has been working for me so some distance.

you should try to take your vitamins every day.
try taking them with some toast so it's not the only thing going into your stomach. also, some water or ginger ale, especially can help curb the nausea and keep things down.
i wouldn't just not take your vitamins. try to take them everyday and if you bring it back up, then try again, the next day.
they are too important to just leave out.
also, i think GNC may have prenatals without iron, so you could try them for now, if you think the iron is causing the problem.
take care.

vitamins are there to compensate for lack of nutrition. If you eat healthy you shouldnt have to worry. My girl is pregnant and couldnt hold anything down when she was taking those except pizza. All pizza diet isnt good so the doc just put us on a very nutritious diet. Everything is going well.

I had trouble with the prenatal vitamins with one of my boys. My OB told me to take Flintstones Chewables one a day. Prenatal vitamins are better but these are better than none at all. Ask ;your OB or OB nurse about your options.
