"Aliens" is a derogatory term for someone not from the US commonly used by xenophobes. Because we are one of the world's wealthiest and most powerful countries... we tend to look down on others different from us.I don't recommend you use it if you are concered about being nice to people

I think "alien" is an old term for foreigner, and is what was written into the immigration laws. It's not an accurate or good descriptive term now that the language has changed a bit, and alien now is usually meant to mean a space creature.

Here is something funny that I found when I put "alien" into google. Michael Crichton, the author that Bush and other neocons was saying was a scientist and an authority who believed there was no global warming, gave a lecture a couple of years ago saying aliens were warming the planet.

Americans always like to be different, and hence they use different terms to the British. The whole world follows the Celcius / Centigrade scale in weather forecasts, but America uses the Farenheit scale. I can go on and on. This is just another way of saying "We're different you ALIEN". Really hope this helps you better understand the American mentality.

Alien is not a reference to Extra-Terrestrials, but to those who do not come from the same location. The term has been used for many years. Stop by Websters to see.
