I'll probably never need to use it - or would a personal alarm be a better bet? If what I fear comes to pass I'll need to act in a hurry.

I would need just a few minutes to summon help - but need to be able to set an alarm off with a single touch. Cell phone too slow.

Loud alarm sounds the best bet - I'd need it to be discrete - maybe worked into a necklace or bracelet.

My Crime Prevention Officer gave me a fantastic spray which is British version of mace. Its got a 138 decibel blast, emits a cloud of very repulsive vapour and a cloud of 'invisable' ultra violet identifier.
You can get a good selection on www.c-p-p.co.uk for under a tenner. I got mine for free so you might be able to blag one from your CPO. If you've got something you are concerned about talk to your CPO or Domestic Violence Officer for info on personal safety.
Take care!!!

You cannot have mace or pepper spray in the UK, but you can rent cell phones if yours won't work and you could have the personal alarm.

When you get there, go to a sporting goods store and get some sort of security device that runners carry.

It's DEFINATELY illegal....if you are caught, then you are in the ****! It's a prohibited article!! Pepper Spray is actually classified under the Firearms Act! You can get cheap personal alarms from your local crime prevention officer....might even be free in some areas.

A personal alarm is legal but pepper spray is far more effective though regarded by the law as an offensive weapon.

It's only illegal if you get caught... if you use it, say it was your attackers and you wrestled it off him and used it on him... and that you were fearful for your life... (this is what a friendly police officer told me)

His word against your and he's the filthy rapist !!!

Just make sure you press it in to his hand when he's rolling around on the floor...

I carry mace with me that I buy in the US when I go there on business. There are some bloody nutters out there you know!
