She should not be bred till her second season which will occur from 1 - 1-1/2 years. My folks raise Chi's so I can tell you to expect a c-section. Make sure to have your vet on alert for the approximate date of whelping. About 95% of Chi's need a c-section. Expect to pay from$350-$500 for one plus the cost of the tests. Make sure both the dog and ***** are tested for canine brucellosis and have complete physical exams as well.

They come into season around 6 months of age. If you are breeding wait until it's at least a year of age. Be sure the mom is up to date on all vaccines, and is on heartworm preventative, and is healthy. Also take into consideration smaller dogs sometimes have a hard time delivering and may need a c-section. This can cost you a lot of money so if you're doing it to make money I don't suggest you do it. Not to mention dogs aren't for making money they are for loving.

If you have to ask this question here, you don't know nearly enough to be breeding.

5-6 million cats and dogs are killed every year already because there aren't enough homes for them.

To help visualize that number - the combined population of LA and Chicago in 1990 was 6.2 million. Imagine that *every person in those two cities* was killed in one year. That's how many cats and dogs are killed in our shelters EVERY year.

Please spay your dog and help control the animal overpopulation problem.

I concur 2 at least. She should be full grown. Sometimes if prego to young they don't know what to do with the pups. Also genetic testing for that breed should be done, so's you won't pass on illnesses to the pups.
