Conures have a shape of beak that can be very painful when bitten and will sometimes not let go. Birds larger than a cockatiel would not be good for a first-time pet. I own a Blue Front Amazon. A male, hand-fed/trained baby can be taught to talk and will give you many years of enjoyment. Get a bird book on any type you may purchase, as there are things you must do and things to stay away from; i.e., Teflon, fumes of any kind, heat, cold, etc., what foods are safe, putting to bed at night.

In looking at your list, if you are a first time bird owner, I would definately not be starting out with a Macaw, amazon or cockatoo. Conures are VERY loud birds. I have a Jenday. If you are not ready for the volume they can put out, I would not recommend a conure either. I would strongly suggest you do more research on these birds and wich might be best suited for your family environment. Don't rush into this without researching it. They require alot of attention for them to be healthy and happy.

I have a nanday conure named Tommy-Boy, a cockatiel named Peanut, another named Jerry Lee, another Maybell, and one named Peanut. We have had other birds named Stormy, Abby, Sky, Wendy, Summer, Lucy, Sierria, Doodles, Rosco, Mary Jane & lots more. After you get your bird names will just come to you. I tried to name them how their moods were & what fit them best.

I definitely have a eco-friendly Quaker parrot too. I named mine Gunther......The Quakers have been based by ability of Germans so i wanted a powerful german call......i think of the eco-friendly is going to be a woman (i did not understand that till mine began laying eggs LOL)). Gretel is a superb lady german call. sturdy good fortune and congratulations on your new puppy.

don't worry about naming your new friend when you get one it will come to you in time. if you can get a hand fed bird for they are already tame and can be handled. learn all you can about the bird you select, food, cage requirements ect.
