In response to my last question "When did Christ say it was O.K. to kill?" many people said that killing in defense was O.K. Do you not realize that you can defend yourself without killing the attacker?
As my new thing is, any insults to my character can be sent here...

Hey J.D., been there, done that, got the T-shirt, and no one had to die. He wasn't real happy about the condition of his arm though.

Joseph M: If we can agree that Bruce Lee was one of if not the greatest hand to hand combatant that ever lived then I offer you this. "No matter how great a fighter you are, you can't dodge bullets." paraphrased.
When a man has a gun and a conviction to kill you, you die.

STUPIDITY assumes that killing is a necessity as an act of defense?
Einstein said that the Universe and human stupidity has no ending. Hear hear.

Good points, killing should always and only be a last option. Keep in mind that there may be times when the other side cannot be reasoned with. For example, if someone's sole purpose in life is to wipe you off the face of the earth, where's the common ground? How far do you go in dealing with fanatics, extremists?

All tough questions with no black and white.

The Principles Governing Warfare are laid out in Deuteronomy 20:1-20.

I am attempting to find a passage in the Bible, just can't remember where it is that covers self-defense in your home and the rules governing it. The general jist of it is that if you can call for help, do so. If you do not then you must take whatever actions are necessary to protect your home and family.

When I find it....I will post it.

Sometimes you can't defend yourself, and sometimes you go too far when trying to defend yourslef and the only way to get away is by killing the person who is attaking you. IN my opinion, if someone makes me mad enough and attacks me badly enough for me to have to fight back agressively, then if it goes to the point that I killed them, then they deserve it.

I'm guessing you dont' believe in the death penalty.
Well I believe in an eye for an eye. Do unto others what you want done unto yourself (or something like that)

Remember you said this if you ever cross paths with someone bad in a dark alley some evening and it's their intention to take your life away. Amazing what a motivator and mind-changer survival can be.
And if you choose to stick to your policy... you're dead right.

Well that's fine. Happened to me as well. He didn't fare as well.
The cops agreed with me.
If it comes down to a matter of me or them, the saying "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6" comes to mind.

Well I don't believe in the Bible, or Jesus. I think anyone who kills someone, molest, or rapes another should be killed immediately. I also fell that if someone breaks into my house, and tries to hurt my family I have every right to do what it takes to stop this from happening. If it takes killing them than I guess they should not have been doing what they were doing.

It is in human nature to destroy whatever causes them fear. (Think girls and bugs) Its just our way of making ourselves feel secure. And although its not right, some people tend to reason that their life is worth so much more than the one attacking them, so they think it justifies their killing the person. Other times, people are just caught in the spur of the moment, panicked and not able to think clearly. But I firmly believe that no one has the right to kill anyone else, not even in the name of the law.

Conflict, Human error, Personal despair and decease are with us always.

Here are some annual death tolls that are very sad.

Highway accidents: 40,000 per year
Youth Suicide: 20,000 per year
Cancer: 550,000 per year
Flu death: 36,000 per year

I can't control the moral actions of others. But we can all help each other to reduce these really alarming statistics.

I think you need not kill to defend your self but at times it happens and if it does I do not think we should judge the person.
If an abused wife defends herself and accidentally kills her husband, I'm not sure if she should go to jail.
There are also times when the person you are defending yourself against is out to kill you. Maybe the only thing that would stop them is death. I'm not sure.

you have to learn how to defend yourself against all forms of attack before you can say you can stop a bullit in its track. Whether it be taking the gun out of hand and breaking the arm or just talking your way out of it. but i believe if someone is set on killing you, and you want to live a little longer, i say, STRIKE FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
