we arent slaves, we have the ability to choose to worship him or to reject him
those who reject him, can spend eternity without him - just as they wish
those who accept him, can spend eternity with him
its simple

Okay, it might seem like I'm going completely off topic but bear with me, I do have a point.
I know that God loves us so much he'll allow us to make bad decisions even though He knows they'll have disasterous results in the future for ourselves and for others we can't even begin to consider.
I know He wants us to worship Him because not only is he our Creator but He loves us so greatly- Wouldn't you want someone you loved so completely to say and show they loved you too? And yes, he does get to say how we can show our love- He's our creator, don't lessen His authority over us based on some idea of self importance.
I know He put us here because this is where we belong, and he wanted to give us the chance to make the right decisions in his eyes. He can't allow us to make the right decisions without letting us make the wrong ones too, hence a lot of the evil that happens in the world.
God's loving tolerance of our own evil can sometimes be easily be misinterpreted as Him creating that evil himself.
When you consider how difficult it is to follow theguidelines He and His Son Jesus set down for us you can easily begin to wonder what kind of sick jerk makes all these rules and then makes it immpossible to follow them if you don't understand the points I made earlier.
He didn't make it hard to be a good person, we did. He didn't make our society slant so far from His own guidelines that following Him faithfully means to stand against the tide, we did.
He does acknowledge how hard it can be for us, and out of love He sent His only Son to not only finish a task that needed to be addressed but to also teach us while He was here by word and by example how exactly to stand against the general concensious.
There's some proverb or saying out of theBible that alludes to the fact: to Follow me is to something something something....
I think it's is to fight for me or something like that because when you stand seemingly alone like that it does seem like you're engaing in a personal war with the society you live in.
It's hard to be constantly questioned, and it's hard to be judged negativly for following what you know to be true, and most of al it's hard to live up to the high ideals of peace and kindness He sets for us through all these things, but it's something that must be done.
Hope that answers your questions (and hopefully raises some more) and thanks for the pts.

Let me see if I can give an example---although simplistic, I agree.
I believe ruleless, ruthless, selfish, demanding, rebellious, and ungrateful teenagers are God's way of showing parents just how He's treated by us. We try to teach teenagers patience, gratitude instead of attitude, responsibility, integrity, honor, and commitment. We teach them that they have chores to do, work around the house, and we teach them that they must do what we say and do what we ask them to do with a cheerful heart, to the best of their ability, without defiance or rebellion.
What we also teach them is to honor their parents, obey their parents, and love their parents because their parents first loved them.
God is no different. He wants us to serve him with a glad heart, not a begrudging heart. He wants us to "clean the garage," so to speak, without grumbling; he wants us to obey him---even though some of his laws and rules are "bogus" or "lame" in our minds at the time.
As we live our lives day-to-day as wives, husbands, and parents, we are learning to be obedient to Our Father; we are learning to serve and love Him with glad hearts. We are learning what our "chores" are---even though, some of those tasks are extremely difficult in this world---and we are learning to be the kinds of people who can live together in heaven after we've learned to be mature servants of God in whatever task or "chore" he designates.
That's not slavery----that's love and obedience. The same thing you want from your children.

We worship because he provides for us and blesses us beyond what we ask for, and because God is worthy of it. He created the world, he created life... what's wrong with worshipping God anyway? It's better than people who worship sex or money or drugs. That stuff can ruin people.

Humans were put on this earth to fellowship with God. When we lost that fellowship, worship and obedience took its place. A certain amount of fellowship with Him exists, but only if we worship and obey Him.

The point is, we are already slaves. God gives us the ability to choose a better master, that's all.
If you prefer to be a slave to alcohol, drugs, sex. food, etc., that is your choice. But there is something finer out there that you may serve if you so choose.

Yes - I believe he would. Life is to condition you for the afterlife - where you spend the rest of eternity selflessly serving God in Heaven.
Not trying to offend - its just the way I see it for all Christian, Jewish & Islamic beliefs.

Well God did say obey your masters because God put them over you. God sets up heirarchies. Even Ed Young said it on one of his brainwashing sessions.

No we impose these things on ourselves! God wants us to live our lives with enjoyment of the world around us! But to do it with as little sin as possible! He gave us freewill, not chains.
