I've never known a dog yet who wasn't always interested in eating. Maybe not their own food but certainly anything people are eating. Mine lays at my feet while I'm preparing food hoping I drop something. She gets very excited when I'm cutting cheese for my peanut butter sandwich because I always give her a little piece.

I think what they mean is that goldens are a breed who can't be on self-feed beause they won't stop eating. They need the amount of their food regulated or they'll be porkers.

I've mostly had sight hounds and all of them were always on self-feed because they only eat when hungry. Not all breeds are like that.

Most of mine have not been food fixated.
They would hang out for scraps as I fixed dinner but other than that they just walked off and layed down.
None of mine are fed from the table and so they really do not beg.
All of my dogs seem to like veggies and fruit. Right now my two weimaraners are picking tomatoes from my garden and the female picks corn also. Sort of nutsy dogs.

All my dogs have always been really really food fixated, especially treats or leftovers. Admittedly, I noticed my German Sheperds appitite dropped off a couple of years ago, but then he had died, and the vet warned me that might happen.
