I think it stays there, and you pour the gin through it. I think it's easier to measure the quantities, because gin pours out more slowly through it. If I understand correctly what you mean :) if you can pour gin out, then it should stay.

It's an anti tamper device to prove that someone hasn't put cheap alcohol in the bottle. I like Beefeater straight from the freezer.

u don't take it out cos u'd then have to drink the whole bottle cos u won't be able to screw the cap back on
