I am asking because of how the religious leaders are responding to this.

Actually, if I were Jesus, I would like to see more of this humor. After all, Many christians, especially the catholics display the cross everywhere. As Jesus, I'd hate to see crosses everywhere because it reminds me of a pretty bad day I had over 2000 years ago. It's a day I'd rather put behind me.

Guess her music wasn't selling well enough on it's own merits, she needed to pull a publicity stunt?

The crown of thorns itself was the Roman soldiers' way of mocking Jesus - it is a 2000 year old passtime and she won't be the last one to do it...

"And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

Whether or not you like Madonna, she is just one in a long line of entertainers, writers, televangelists and other public figures who know that controversy sells.

She just does this for attention
Sad really when you have someone who has the money that she has and is at the age she is that she still needs to get attention and stay in the limelight
she can do what she wants it will not sway me at all

i'm not christian, however, i do think it's important that we all respect each other's faith... so, yes, i am offended that she would do something that is very disrespectful... however, we are talking about madonna - while she's an amazing business women, she didn't get famous for having class ;)

I'll tell you what is offensive...
Madge moves to England to raise her kids because the people in America are debased and debauchery runs rampant here.

Gee, Louise, I wonder f%^%$*ing why?

One finds it easy to overlook TRASH MERCHANTS.

If I got upset every time I saw Rap Scum with a cross around ITS
neck I would have ulcers.

One gets to accept seeing BLASPHEMING from the ""stars?"".

I think it is. How would she feel if some other artist took symbols that are important to her Kaballah faith, and used them on stage. She probably wouldn't like it.
