It is most interesting these characteristics you describe .. and I believe very much they are the normative most natural to humanity regarding most religious manifestations...
If we were looking for exceptions to this historically...and as we do not possess a time machine-these will simply be speculative and not "tangible" ..We might note 1)Aspects of the Rennaissance-which inevitably capitulated to the aspects you described..2)Epochs in the Hindu-Kush and China where a certain science of introversion prevailed (and again resulted eventually in the same capitulation which I will omit in the others forth as assumed) 3)Wide ranging alphabet based Mystery Schools of Egypt,Greece,Celtia,Norse et al; and 4) Early Gnostic Christianity ..there are others-but I would like to examine some of the few things common to these four ...
In regards to what is common with these..initially we may note that to this day, all these manifestations give to us alot that is "perrenial"...they penetrate our literatures, and psychology collectively ( see Shakespeare,Kant, and Jung to name a few) .. but they also in their temporal manifestations were very "fluid" traditions .. that is they were not based on a single "deadletter" book .. in fact, quite the opposite, they were integrating and fluidly changing all the time .. such that a scholar picking one of them today .. finds all sorts of contradictions in practices and mythologies .. and despite this very much continuums of spirit ... They had certain consistencies despite their abilities to change...
The Greek myths were very flowing .. and often entire characters would change in their retellings, as well as incidents .. Early Gnosticism did this too .. as we find at 2-300 AD Jesus-Ophite serpent in the Garden Creation mythos was as legitamate a contender to what would become standard Christian Creation mythos as Old Testament Torah ..But as the cities coalesced bishops and clergy in their new power structures .. Religion comingling with politics for its own agendas began declaring what anathemas were .. Christians that assume some Providential hand was operant in this process are essentially ignorant of its bloody, bloody history ..
Yet one should know that even neoplatonism and those that claim a Socratic disposition owe ethics and many perrenial attributes straight back to what were once very "religious" principals .. and Socrates himself had some contradictions in this regards as in some of his teaching showed he held aspects of the Mysteries in a certain reverence ...

No god would ever want these things. I'm sure a god would like to see good moral rules out there. But what would a god care about a single insignificant human having worldly posessions. People that believe that a god would talk through a burning bush are really setting pretty low expectations of what a god really is.

A cult is: A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader
The Bible has over 40 different authors and was written over a period of 1500 years.
A better example of what you are talking about would be Mormonism, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam, etc.

The main distinction is that Christianity doesn't rely on "blind" faith but provides many proofs... if you would like to know more try reading some Lee Strobel book that make a "Case for Christ"... something that doesn't ask you to take "faith on faith". He has written a few books along that line.
I don't feel "attacked" because there ARE proofs and evidence to back up Christianity.... don't forget... its called the "Theory" of evolution for a reason and we are no closer to PROVING that than OJ is to finding "the real killers"
I have to say I completely agree with you about the Mormons and Scientologists... good lookin out!

It’s not an attack on Christianity; it is the unveiling of the hypocrisy that is invading our lives in this new neo-con regime. I think you have said most eloquently what many atheists believe and that is why you are the best!

I would say it is cult behaviour. But don't we have to define cult? Does a large number of members move you from cult status to religion status? If it does then we would have to say that it is not cult behaviour, it indeed the behavior of a religion.

did you already know that real Christians in the 1st century whilst the Christian Congregation first began had a governing physique? sure, older guy who took the lead in the Congregation, who settled disputes and who by ability of Gods holy spirit stored the cohesion in the Christian Congregation. whilst Jesus exchange into on earth preaching and coaching concerning to the dominion of God, ought to you have refused to believe what did no longer sound perfect to you. properly sure, you ought to yet what Jesus and the 1st century disciples have been speaking exchange into the certainty approximately Gods word. in the previous I grew to become a Jehovah's Witness I studied a number of different religions and that i questioned those faiths, and tried to comprehend issues that did no longer sound perfect. yet once you start up analyzing the bible, which we believe is what one ought to base there faith off of, that's clean to me that Jehovah's Witnesses are the real Christian faith. Why? Our desire, our ideals and how we live our existence in accordance to the bible and whilst somebody does not then there disciplined with the aid of fact the bible says must be performed. We believe that the earth would be right here continually and that it is going to likely be inhabited by using righteous human beings. We believe that Heaven isn't the advantages for all stable human beings yet in basic terms a touch flock which will rule as kings and priest over the earth. We believe that the dominion of God or the dominion of the Heavens is an exceptionally Kingdom which would be ruled by using Christ Jesus and the one hundred forty four,000 anointed Christians that rather flow to heaven to rule as Kings and priest over the earth. we believe that God could under no circumstances burn or enable burning of every physique continually in hell (the word hell is purely the common grave of mankind) We believe that Jehovah God is the author ,the daddy, the main severe over each and all of the earth and Jesus Christ is the son of God, the son of the main severe. Jehovah is the single Jesus prayed to whilst he exchange into on earth, and the single and in basic terms one Jesus reported we ought to constantly worship. those are in basic terms some ideals that set Jehovah's Witnesses different than for considerable bypass Christendom and what makes me particular that it is the certainty.

It doesn't sound like a cult to me because they give everyone their free will if they want to follow it or not. It's really not a big deal, if you don't believe it, then just don't follow it.

Yes, Religion is a cult.
Two examples;
If the people will not serve God, they will end up serving and being slaves of government.
If man will not serve God, then woman will not serve man.
