Ya know I heard that one too and maybe it does for some people. But it didnt do anything for me except made me smell like mayo for awhile! Try leaving conditioner in over night with plastic wrap around your hair, that worked much better for me.

I would suggest using after you shampoo. Or you can buy a product called cholesterol. They have basically the same concept where you apply a generous amount to your hair, put a cap on your head and sit under a dryer or place a towel around your head to heat up the mixture. After 30 minutes rinse out the product.
You hair will feel softer and shiner. The only problem with the mayonnaise is that you might have a bit of the mayo scent in your hair.
You can pick up cholesterol at any place that sells shampoos and conditioners.

Yes, it's true, mayonnaise is a great conditioner for your hair.
After shampooing, use approx. a tablespoon and rub through your hair, cover with a plastic bag and leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. It adds volume and shine and helps with damaged hair.
If you feel uncomfortable using Mayo you put on your food ---(which is very good too-I mix some cropped herbs and scented oils into mine)--- you can purchase hair mayonnaise on line, and spend some of your extra money on it. But Why?

Yes, mayo is actually a good deep conditioning remedy. I just tried this last night and it did an amazing job. I'm not sure about specific time limitations, but i used it for a few hours and it worked fantastically. I don't normally use conditioner, and my hair is normally pretty soft, but the mayo has actually improved upon that. However, after using this treatment you might want to wash your hair more than once in the shower to completely eradicate the grease, otherwise your hair would be soft but unappealing.

boy you guys out there are filled with all kinds of answers...however, yes, lemon is the better for shine but for someone on a limited budget as it seems we all are now a days,i would recommend is a product called Bio-lodge mask for deep conditioning and shine or better yet you can get a type called
KOLESTERAL K-LUSTER are some ways that I've seen this product la bled from calli to the big apple to apply comb in hand with warm water to run thru hair and then put a plastic bag or salon netting [ in a hurry?use a MED.HEATblowdryer] otherwise a nice heated head day in the sunshine then shampoo and rinse as normal... i hope that helps you remember YOUR HEAD WILL SMELL RANCID IF YOU DON'T GET THE MAYO OUT AND PERSONALLY MY HUBBY NOTICED A FEW LEMON SEEDS STUCK IN MY HEAD FROM TIME TO TIME so use your own discretion.

It works for me .. i think its cause mayonnaise has lemon which is known to give hair shine and oils which gives hair moisture. Wash hair as usual, spread on mayo and cover w/ a warm towel. Allow to stay on for 15 minutes, RINSE THOROUGHLY with some shampoo and water. Dry and style as usual.

I've never tried it myself but I have heard this is true. From what I recall, you do it in between shampoos. You are supposed to rub the mayo into your hair *like conditioner..not too much..just enough to get all your hair. Put a showercap on and leave for up to 2 hours, then rinse.

yes ive heard of that too. i wouldnt add any oil to the mayo just because its oily enough. Put it on your hair before you shampoo and leave it on for about ten minutes. Think about it, if you put it on afteer shampooing youd have mayo in your hair and youd have to either wash again or leave it. And i dont think the 2nd option would smell very pleasent in a couple hours.

Yes. Youhave to put it on wet/damp hair for atleast an hr. Then wash it out.
Some people leave it on over night.
Make sure to use regular, not lo fat and while its in your hair you have to have a showercap over it to keep the moisture in.
Good luck
