An infantry squad, including ranger infantry, consists of a squad leader and two fire teams. The squad leader is usually a staff sergeant, E-6. The two fire teams each consist of a team leader, riflemen, grenadier, and automatic riflemen. The team leaders are usually either sergeants (E-5) or corporals (E-4). The rest of the team members usually right between private (E-1 & E-2) and private first class (E-3) for a total of nine people.

Infantry Squad:

1. Squad leader -- Staff Sergeant

Alpha Team:

2. Alpha team leader -- Sergeant or Corporal
3. Riflemen -- Private or Private First Class
4. Grenadier -- Private or Private First Class
5. Automatic Riflemen -- Private or Private First Class

Bravo Team:

6. Bravo team leader -- Sergeant or Corporal
7. Riflemen -- Private or Private First Class
