Ooohhhhhh -
Some genuine emotion displayed here . . .
How can 'we' NOT notice??? that there are a lot of religiously based answers on this site?

1. I belong to no 'named' religious organization or creed. . .

2. I too, would prefer to hear/read peoples' opinions - based on their own experiences, or 'thinking' - outside of the box they've been seduced into.

Unfortunately - folks are (and always have been) fearful of what they can't see or control (mystery/death) - it's more secure for many, to believe that there is a 'powerful' being (out there, somewhere) who directs all traffic here - and will welcome all humans 'home' at death. . . or, assign the ones that they don't like, to some eternal damnation. . .

Thusfar - society has supposedly done 'better' because of some regimented moral code - believed to have been established by some 'unseen', powerful, distant (yet close) entity. This code is meant to control the masses, thru fear tactics - retribution like hellfire or eternal unconsciousness after physical life. . . I think it's not working --- similar to our human laws, and the sketchy enforcement of same.

We, the people, are a mess . . . and I hope that the concept of evolution IS valid - as it appears to be the only way that this human species might (eventually) survive the path to extinction - that our diverse, and false religious tenets, are steering us to.

I am a Christian - Baptist.
That being said, my spirituality dictates how I run my life, not how my country should be run.

The problem with most Christians is that many have read the Bible, but few have looked further. I have read the Bible, the Pentateuch, parts of the Koran, and most of the Gnostic texts. If all you have read is the Bible, your interpretation and knowledge of Christ is skewed toward what "The Church" wants you to know, and not what you should know to help you find answers.

Religion is religion and government is government. Unless someone mentions religion in a question, I try to leave it out...

Try this. If someone goes of on a religious rant when the question had nothing to do with religion, report them for "not a question or answer". I have...

This site is everyone to discuss whatever topic they wish & the answers given are from all over the world. In majority of the countries outside of the U.S.A., religion is a strong part of their society. Religion guides the everyday life. Don't be upset that many ppl answer with religious references. The asker has the option to sort through the religious & factual answers or to be more specific when asking the question.

Neither. I believe in God but not in "man-made" religions including Christianity or catholic.

As far as what religion I don't have a defined path yet but would be close to Wiccan or Pagan. (No that doesn't mean I worship Satan as that being is another another fake creation of old time religion to keep their followers in line.)

If anyone looks back in history they would see before modern governments the church had all the power back then and used the idea of Satan and Hell as a deterrent like the Laws of today are meant to be with going to jail or the death penalty.

I'm catholic but I've never pushed my beliefs on anyone nor anyone has pushed their beliefs on me. However, somethings can only be answered with religious answers. That doesn't make the answerer wrong nor right. Not everything is based on religion. If you want a science answer post it in Science not religion.

If the questioner would like an answer based on Fact and Science not beliefs, then why are they asking it in the religion and spirituality section?

i'm an agnostic, people around here obviously think that that means atheist but it doesn't, I can't believe in many of the organized religions of the world since I see the hypocrisy in them. There is a god, meaning the giver of life and it may be something as simple and unconscious as the sun. Why worship the sun? It doesn't care, it's not attention starved or jealous like the Christian, Muslim or Hebrew god.

There's a difference between being religious, and believing in a higher being. Atheist is simply the renounce of religion. I am not an athiest, and I am not religious (meaning that I do not believe in organized religion.) But I do believe in god and that sometimes, you need some faith to get through life.

I am neither. I consider myself spiritual but not religious, and not athiest either. There is no religion I agree with.

My religion - none, Im an ex-catholic

I do not answer my questions based on religion or spiritual beliefs, and frankly get annoyed when others do (unless it was a question specifically about religion)

Good for you, Staci.

Some people live their whole lives via their fantasy imagined god. That the way it is. Then to make themselves feel better about their made up theism, they try to answer other peoples question with that fantasy.

I'd say just ignore them... there are non-theists around who will give you an honest "I don't know" if they don't know... instead of "it must be god's mysterious plan", b.s.
