Eagles are predators (meat eaters) and they prefer catching and eating live prey . They have evolved over many years and developed strong wings and legs which help them chase down and catch fish and ground animals , sometimes even bats and other birds . The American Bald Eagle has a wingspan of six and a half feet and are only found in north America. Eagles also mate for life , when they find a partner they stick with them .
